This Week at BJBE
April 2 , 2018
A Note from Sally Sachar, Executive Director

Dear Congregant,

We hope you have you received your first Counting the Omer emails, which Rabbi Kedar previewed in a message you should have received Saturday afternoon. The Omer refers to the 49-day period between the second night of Passover and the holiday of Shavuot.  As Rabbi Kedar wrote, this will be "a seven-week course in spiritual awakening. Each week you will be introduced to a different spiritual principle that you will consider for a seven-day period." The principles are: Decide, Discern, Choose, Hope, Imagine, Courage, and Pray.

As as Rabbi Kedar further wrote, " Without judgement, criticism, pressure you will ask yourself how does this week's principle resonate with my life? How can this principle propel me to take the next step toward my goals of a life with more meaning and a greater sense of purpose? After years of study and practice, I have discovered that there is great power in the practice of these principles in the order they are presented. The principles seem simple enough. The greatest complexities and wonder reside in the simplest of things. This is an invitation to pay attention, to slow down, to reach inward, just a bit. Or a lot."

Please email me if you wish to receive the Counting the Omer emails and are not receiving them.

We hope you enjoy this journey.

Also, please note we have the Passover Festival Service & Yizkor on  Friday, April 6 at 9:30am and the Mizmor L'Shabbat Service on Friday, April 6 at 7:30pm, featuring our sensational tefilah band.  We also have on Saturday, April 7, our Kol Shabbat Service at 9:30am followed by Torah Study at 11:00am .

We hope you will join us, and that you have a lovely and meaningful Pesach.

- Sally
