Dance
The BHS Dance Team is off to a great start this year, and we are now moving into our busiest season as winter approaches! We will be hosting a Student Dance Workshop and our annual Dance Team Winter Showcase during the first week of December. And, our competition season is just right around the corner in January. We'd love to have you join us in supporting the team! Here are the dates of our upcoming events:

Sunday, December 2nd, 1:00-3:30 pm -- Student Dance Workshop
Join the BHS Dance Team for a day of dancing, arts & crafts, and fun! This workshop is open to students in grades K-8th, and attendees are invited to perform with the team onstage at our annual Winter Showcase. Students will also receive a BHS Dance Team t-shirt. Cost is $25 per student.

Friday, December 7th, 7:00 pm -- Dance Team Winter Showcase
Watch the team perform at our annual showcase! This show is entirely student-run and features many choreographic works by our own team members. Tickets can be purchased at the door or on  www.tututix.com/tickets  (scroll down to "Washington" and find Ballard HS Dance). Ticket prices are $10/adults, $8/BHS students, $5/senior citizens, $5/children ages 5 and under.

Thanks so much for supporting the Ballard Dance Team! For more information, please visit  www.bhsdanceteam.wix.com/ballard , or email  bhsdanceteam@gmail.com .
Golf
Congratulations to our graduating BHS Golfers!
Gymnastics
The gymnastics team's first week is in the books and it was a great one. The team is as enthusiastic as they are talented. Fourth at state last year, nearly the entire team remains intact for this year, with the strong addition of sophomore Cosette LaChance. Come catch them in action at home meets on Dec 7th and 18th!

ABC FAQ
With so many different volunteer groups working to support BHS students, we know things can get confusing. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the ABC.

What exactly  is  the ABC?
The Ballard High School Athletic Booster Club (BHS ABC) is a parent volunteer group that works with the Athletic Director and BHS coaches to benefit the student-athletes and athletic programs at Ballard High School. We support  athletic programs at Ballard High School by providing administrative, communication, and bookkeeping services; we  promote  BHS sporting event attendance, school spirit, and camaraderie for all Beavers; and we  advocate  for BHS Athletics in the surrounding community.

Ok, so what does the ABC do?
The ABC Board meets monthly with the Athletic Director to make sure that our efforts align with BHS Athletics values and goals. One of our most important jobs is maintaining financial records and managing bank accounts for all BHS sports teams, so that teams do not have to maintain individual non-profit status and coaches and team parents are not also required to be bookkeepers. We also:
  • pay for and maintain the Ballard Athletics website
  • pay for, produce, and distribute this newsletter
  • produce and sell Beaver Gear
  • host the Ballard Athletics Blast fundraiser
  • purchase fun Beaver Swag for giveaways at select sporting events
  • pay an annual percentage of the Strength and Conditioning coach's salary
  • provide grants to the Athletic Director for special projects that benefit BHS Athletics

I want to support BHS athletes! What can  do?
  • Become a member of the ABC. Membership fees help cover our costs and keep the ABC strong.
  • Buy and wear Beaver Gear, especially when you are out supporting our Beavers at sporting events.
  • Plan on attending the various social and fundraising events we host throughout the school year. Help us build community while we celebrate our athletes!
  • Become a team parent, or offer to help your existing team parent -- volunteering to help out with a team's administrative, fundraising, or communications tasks means that the coach has more time to focus on his or her athletes.
  • Make a direct donation to your team!
