Headmaster's Update:
  • Senior Lunches: I have begun meeting with seniors at lunch this week to discuss their plans for next year, what they will miss when they leave Saint Agnes, and what they would do if they were in my position as headmaster. I am always surprised by the maturity of our seniors when they speak so beautifully about missing their friends and teachers from Saint Agnes the most. What a blessing for me to hear from them as the end draws nigh!
  • Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist: Construction has begun on the convent to prepare for the arrival of the sisters. We also received a notice from the sisters announcing that they will be sending three sisters to work as teachers in our Lower School (K-6) and another sister to work in our Upper School (7-12) for a total of four sisters: It is really happening! Some people have recently expressed doubt that the Dominicans are coming at all-which I have naturally laughed at. I don't know what I'll do with the 8 prie dieus (complicated kneelers for them) that I'm working on in my wood shop if they don't come! Don't worry: they're coming in August 2018.
  • Security: Now that April and May are upon us (despite the continued late snow fall), the inevitable emergence of brash thieves, needy panhandlers, and other unsavory characters will descend upon the city of St. Paul. I want to take this opportunity to offer a few reminders about security at and around Saint Agnes School: (1) Live a charitable life, but please do not give money to anybody asking for it on our campus (as they will come to the school more often if we do). (2) If anybody approaches your vehicle and asks for money, please call the main office immediately (office hours are 7AM-3:30PM daily), find an administrator, or contact our security person in the lot. If you are threatened, call 911. (3) If you see anybody suspicious looking through vehicles or making their way through our lots, call 911. (4) Lock your doors at all times and do not leave any valuables in vehicles while in any of our lots or parked on the street near campus.
