Crissy Fiscus, CPA, CGMAA® Business Services Advisor Lexington, KY
Describe your role at ARGI in less than two sentences:
I'm a business advisor providing CFO-level financial services to businesses and business owners.
Hometown: Elkhorn City, KY
Mantra:
"You can have everything in life that you want if you help enough other people get what they want." - Zig Ziglar
What is the greatest challenge you've had to overcome in your life thus far?
I was born deep in the Appalachian Mountains in Pike County, Kentucky in the early 1970s. My father was a very successful business owner, he owned several coal mining operations. In 1977 he was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away in February 1978. We were a young family, I was 6, my mother was 28 and my father was 35. Our emotional and financial stability were gone as my mother struggled to deal with her own grief and be a mother to me. Even through this struggle I was able to find my path, becoming the first person in my family to graduate college. It has taken a really long time to let go of the pain and grief of losing my father at such a young age, but every day gets a little easier. I like to think that he would be proud of the business woman I've become.
Where is your favorite place to vacation? Hilton Head, South Carolina
What is your favorite hobby?
When I am not working or being a mom and wife - I take "my" time to read or run.
Are you involved with any charities or non-profits? Yes, I am on the board of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky and I chair the trustees of Central Christian Church in Lexington, KY
Number one thing on your bucket list?
Own a home in South Carolina. I long to spend more time in a warmer climate near the water.
What would you do for a career, if you weren't working at ARGI? A detective - I've always been fascinated with solving crime!
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
The stories that you tell yourself matter more than you realize. You are enough - embrace who you are!
How do you define success?
Knowing who you are and what you want. For me, it is tending to all areas of my life - spiritual, health, career, financial, family, friends, and mental. If one of those is neglected, I am not successful.
