Major Challenges and Opportunities Ahead for Regional Healthcare Industry
Members of the WCA's Healthcare Consortium, comprised of representatives of world-class healthcare providers, gathered virtually yesterday to share insights and perspectives on the current healthcare environment in our region.
Key meeting takeaways include:

  • COVID-19 positive test rates in our region have been reduced dramatically to low single digits and providers are taking great care to ensure safe environments for routine care and treatments for chronic conditions. Individuals should get their flu shots and not delay screenings or treatments.
  • Many providers continue to struggle to get reimbursement from the public and private insurance payers for their services including for equipment used throughout the pandemic.
  • There are significant challenges related to training and recruiting healthcare talent amidst the limitations of in-person learning, including in clinical settings.
  • WCA's efforts in federal and state advocacy will be vital to advancing critical issues that will ensure the long-term strength of our regional healthcare system
