Freeway Manor Area Street Sealing Scheduled

Houston, TX - Houston City Council Member Dave Martin would like to announce that street sealing is scheduled to occur in the Freeway Manor area tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21 The duration of work is expected to be complete by Monday, March 26, weather permitting. For a map of the impacted streets, please see the image below.

Street sealing is a sprayed-applied asphalt emulsion. It is necessary for pavement preservation as the emulsion seals minor cracks and rejuvenates oxidized asphalt, extending the life of the pavement and reducing maintenance.  The City of Houston's Public Works Department (HPW) will be sealing streets, east to west.  During the work, crews will cone off the area during the application until the product has cured. One lane is to remain open at all times.

"Fresh oil" or "wet emulsion" signs will be placed on the street being sprayed to notify the public. The spray is expected to dry in approximately 1 to 2 hours, and the roadways can be driven on once the signage is removed. Sealing will occur one street at a time. Vehicles parked on the impacted streets will need to be moved as crews spray the emulsion.

If you have a special event or situation (garage sale, reception, etc.) and you are unable to move your vehicle, please call Dan Mueller at (773) 680-7412.

During the project drivers should expect reduced traffic speed through the channelized areas. There will be access to driveways at all times during the project, but it is encouraged you do not return to your driveway until the product is dry. To ensure driver and worker safety, traffic control measures will be in place at all times. The District E office has contacted the Houston Police Department's Clear Lake Division to ask that officers can monitor the location and provide assistance with traffic control as needed.
