City of Morgan Hill Weekly 411
Week of April 29
, 2019
|
Hello Morgan Hill!
The next few weeks ahead are busy with many informational meetings and workshops, fun events and celebrations. Please take time to review carefully the body of this email so that you don't miss any important information.
Friday will kick off Bike Week in Morgan Hill as we lead in to the Men's Stage 3 Finish of the Amgen Tour of California on May 14th. Join the community for the Morgan Hill Bike Party on Friday evening starting at 7:30 p.m. at Bike Therapy. All the events and details for Bike Week can be found on the
City's website.
This coming Sunday is Cinco de Mayo, a time of fun and celebration for many that may involve drinking.
This May 5, the Morgan Hill Police Department will have additional officers on patrol from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. ready to stop and arrest drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The Morgan Hill Police Department encourages everyone to plan ahead and use a designated sober driver,
ride-share or public transportation. The Morgan Hill Police Department also wants to remind everyone that a "DUI Doesn't Just Mean Booze." Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana can all be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs.
BE EMBER AWARE! No matter where you live, the most common reason homes burn during a wildfire is because embers land on something easily ignitable around your home. During Wildfire Awareness Week, make changes to reduce the ember threat to your home. Remove leaves and pine needles from your rain gutters, clean out debris from under your deck, and remove flammable plants from around the base of your house.
Wildfire is a real concern in Morgan Hill as we move into the warmer summer months.
We encourage the entire community to sign up for our FREE Fire Prevention and Preparedness on Monday, May 6 or Saturday, May 18
.
Make it a great week ahead! We look forward to your ongoing engagement and participation in all aspects of community life and local government in Morgan Hill.

CURRENT WATERING SCHEDULES
|
|
Water is always a precious resource in Morgan Hill and with this in mind, our permanent watering restrictions have been designed to best manage the City's potable water supply. These restrictions will help us avoid or minimize the effects of drought, climate change and the unreliability of the imported water infrastructure that serves the City of Morgan Hill.

County of Santa Clara ReduceWaste.org Cup Campaign
Reduce Waste- Bring Your Own Cup
About 85% of the people in Santa Clara County own a
reusable
travel cup or mug, but only 15% actually use it regularly. So why the difference?
Remember your mug/cup
Even though most of us are supportive of using reusable cups and helping the environment, we have trouble remembering to bring our cup with us. We have busy lives and it's easy to forget.
Over 120 billion disposable cups are used every year in America, and each cup is only used for about an hour. Using a reusable cup regularly is one easy way to live up to your environmental values and join the movement to reduce use of disposables!
