Neil Golub Named Chair of the Board of Trustees at miSci, Museum of Innovation and Science
September 8, 2020 - Schenectady, NY - Neil Golub, Former CEO and current Chairman of Price Chopper Supermarkets has been formally elected Chair of the Board of Trustees at miSci, Museum of Innovation and Science. Mr. Golub, the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Gina C. Gould, President of miSci, will be tasked with helping miSci grow and play a more active and prominent role within its community, especially given the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 health pandemic.
"Neil and Jane Golub have long been benefactors and staunch supporters of miSci. Jane was a longtime ardent trustee and has been greatly missed since her passing," says Dr. Gould. "We were all delighted when Neil graciously accepted his nomination to become Chair of miSci's Board of Trustees. It is a testament to the continuing commitment that Neil and Jane Golub have provided to Schenectady, its community, its history, and its future. We are all honored to be working closely with Neil to move miSci forward."
Mr. Golub and his family have been models of philanthropy in the Capital Region for decades, and miSci has been one of the top organizations that they have given their time and financial support to. They have long understood the value of the informal and formal STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning opportunities that miSci provides to school children and families across the region. They also understand the importance of miSci's archives and collections. miSci houses some of the most influential human innovations, such as Edison's tinfoil, the first machine to record the human voice (Edison's), the first MRI machine, and the first electric toasters. These inventions, and many of the stories attached to them, were developed in Schenectady, NY.
Last October, miSci announced The Jane & Neil Golub Creative Learning Project. This innovative five-year initiative will bring miSci's extensive and historically significant collection of artifacts and archives to institutions across the country. It was formally launched on October 12, 2019, with the opening of Insatiable: Cooking Up Innovation. The Project is named in honor of Mr. Golub and his wife, the late Jane N. Golub, who passed away last year.
