We are now set to release progress reports for the last nine-week quarter of
2018-2019. If you have a student attending Cypress Creek, please sit down with them and review their results as soon as possible.
Next week we continue with the administration of exams (testing schedule below) and will have another "long Wednesday" on May 1st. On that Wednesday and then again on May 8th and May 15th there will be no early release. This is to help students engaged in testing by making sure they are not rushed.
We have a fair amount of material in this issue that will only apply to our senior class, but please do not opt out even if not relevant to your household at this time. Should you have a student at CCHS that is not part of the Class of 2019, you can get an idea of how the senior year begins to wind down for future reference.
I hope this finds you having enjoyed a successful week and best wishes for a safe and relaxing weekend!
In Bear Pride,
Dr. W. John McHale Principal Cypress Creek High School

Bears in Service to the Community . . .

Varsity Baseball Team at Give Kids the World Village
Last night the Cypress Creek Varsity Baseball Team visited and volunteered for the dinner service at Give Kids the World Village. This was one of the most humbling experiences for this group of young men as they helped serve dinner, clean dishes, bus tables, sweep floors and help feed over 500 families of critically ill children.
Our boys help put smiles on the faces of these children by not only handling the duties of dinner service, but also by mingling, playing and chatting with them. The feeling of being able to help those families and their children enjoy their stay in such an awesome place with such a great cause is rewarding and a true testament to the type of young men that are on this campus and part of the Cypress Creek family. The amount of compliments about our boys from the staff on site, families and children was rewarding and allowed all of us to be filled with great pride.
Thank you all for your support of the baseball program this season. Herein are a few pictures of the boys at work for our school community.

Mr. Marin's 3D art students do it again . . . "Transformations VII 2019"
"Abstract art seeks to break away from traditional representation of physical objects. It explores the relationships of forms and colors, whereas more traditional art represents the world in recognizable images."
~ Mr. Marin, CCHS Art Dept., 3D art instructor
|
Abstract sculpture like our students created has offered particularly fertile ground for experiments in shape, proportion, and technique, as well as for the embrace of non-traditional sculpting.

Cypress Creek High School Aviation Program
Did you know CCHS has an excellent Aviation program? Students are immersed in a rigorous academic core coupled with a variety of career-relevant electives complemented by student involvement in such real-world work experiences as career-site field trips, job-shadowing, mentor programs and internships. Recent success stats include:
- 162 college credits earned
- 9 students were just certified as FFA Commercial Drone Pilots in April
- 5 Flight Simulators in the classroom
- 5 Drones in our fleet
A surge in pilot certificates for younger people is chipping away at a critical, decades-long labor shortage in aviation.

Friday's Motivational Moment!
|
Years ago a young baseball player's long-ball hitting got the attention of a pro scout, and the boy was offered a contract. When he went off to spring training in Florida, he performed well. And each week he wired home his mother back in Mississippi to inform her of his progress.
Week One: "Dear Mom, leading all batters. These pitchers aren't so tough."
Week Two: "Dear Mom, looks like I will be starting in infield. Now hitting .500."
Week Three: "Dear Mom, today they started throwing curves. Will be home Friday."
The lesson for our Bears?
Confidence is essential to becoming successful, but be careful. Never let grandiosity or arrogance get in the way of your objectives. Put another way, "Don't count your chickens until they've hatched."
Have a great weekend!
Dr. McHale, Principal
Cypress Creek High School
