Here's what's new on the Nobles County 4-H website this month!
Stitch Group: Hardanger Embroidery

The May meeting for the Stitch Group takes place on Saturday, May 4th from 9 -11 AM at the Regional Extension Office (1527 Prairie Drive, Worthington). The stitch group experience is free for anyone who is interested learning about various types of Needle Arts skills. RSVP if you plan to attend.

May Cloverbud meeting

The May Cloverbud meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 14th at 6:00 PM in the Farmers Room (basement of the Government Center, Worthington). You will need a door code for this event, please see your postcard for more details. RSVP please.

Don't Procrastinate! Livestock Eartags & ID Entry in 4-H Online is available!

All Minnesota 4-H members who desire to ID dogs, horses, lamas, rabbits, breeding beef, meat goats, dairy goats, sheep, or swine for this current year must complete the ID process prior to May 15.

May Ambassador meeting

The May Ambassador Meeting will take place on Sunday, May 19th at 6 PM in the Farmers Room. Please RSVP


May Advisory Board & Federation meeting

The May Advisory Board & Federation Meeting takes place on Monday, May 20th, in the Farmers Room.

The Advisory Board will meet prior, with a meal served, at 6:00 PM. The Federation Meeting will begin at 7:00 PM. Both meetings will be held in the Farmers Room.

Please use the 4-H door code to enter the Government Center Building.

2019 Nobles County 4-H important fair related dates

We've had several questions concerning Fair Related Items! We have lots of updates & new processes this year, please stay tuned for more information, and things added to our Fair Updates!

Registration for 4-H SW Camp is now open!

4-H Residential Camp is for youth who have just completed grades 3-6 and is held at Shetek Lutheran Ministries Camp on Lake Shetek.

Attend statewide one-day livestock trainings

Minnesota 4-H is offering 4-H livestock day camps at six different locations in May and June. The trainings will focus on youth grade 6 and up, but younger members will be welcome if they bring a parent or adult chaperone. Event and registration due dates vary by location. Martin County 4-H, Fairmont, will be hosting a training on June 17th.  Registration due by June 7.

A spark is very special. Read Jennifer Skuza's reflections on why finding your spark, and encouraging its discovery in our youth, is one of the best ways a 4-H volunteer can spend their time.

National 4-H's Raise Your Hand promotion is here once again until May 15. Take a couple of minutes to cast your vote for Minnesota 4-H to win up to $20,000!

4-H club and project leaders can use 4HOnline for management and communication. Learn more on the "Using 4HOnline" web page.

All youth currently in grade nine - one year post high school are invited to participate in a 22 day theater arts/leadership/team building experience at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The 2019 Arts-In experience begins Aug. 8.

Register now for 4-H Dog Supersession! 4-H'ers in third grade and up, their families, trainers, and youth and adult dog project leaders are invited to attend 4-H Dog Supersession on May 18 at the Twin Cities Obedience Training Club in Minneapolis. Registration and payment are due by May 11.

Summer activities and outings require planning ahead to avoid risk. Utilize the "keeping youth safe" risk management planning tool, guidelines, and policies before activities and outings are offered to 4-H members.

Register your team by May 15 for the 2019 Minnesota 4-H Engineering Design Challenge! The challenge is designed for youth in grades 3 through one year past high school. Great for developing team building, communication and decision making skills, all while having fun!

The Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Stock Show will take place in September. 4-H Office Staff will no longer be working with the DNA sample or the verification process. 4-H families interested in participating will work directly with Aksarben

A 4-H Crop Scouting event will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 in rural Benson for 4-H and FFA youth currently in grades 7-12
 
4-H Agronomy tours will be held on July 10 (Renville area) and July 17 (Benson area).
 
Cottonwood County 4-H is hosting a 3 day horse clinic June 11-13 at the Windom City Arena.
