At its meeting yesterday, the MRC Board accepted with regret the resignation of Chip Reeves, former president of the MRC Board. Chip had hoped to finish out his term, which was set to expire this December, but his responsibilities as Director of Public Works for Bar Harbor, including a full slate of projects scheduled for this summer, require his complete attention at this time.
Chip joined the MRC board in 2006 and served the past decade as its President. We owe him a debt of gratitude for so ably guiding the post-2018 planning and implementation process and leading MRC through this period of extreme transition that has brought the next generation of recycling and advanced waste processing technology here to Maine. Please join us in thanking Chip for his years of dedication and service!
At yesterday's meeting, the MRC Board elected Karen Fussell, Finance Director for the City of Brewer, as its President and Tony Smith, Director of Public Works for Mount Desert, as its Vice President. Sophie Wilson, Orono Town Manager, remains as Treasurer.

At its May 22 meeting, the MRC Board will consider appointing an individual to the vacant board seat to serve through the remainder of the calendar year until the next election is held. If you are interested, please submit a statement of interest to Karen Fussell, MRC Board President, at
