Mundi Update

Still no news out of Puerto Rico about Mundi. The government has been silent. All the animals at the zoo remain sequestered in the facility, which has been closed to the public since the USDA pulled its permit over a year ago. But we have not given up and our attorney continues to pursue the possibility of Mundi retiring to ERNA. We will keep you updated.
Retire the Elephants - We're Ready!

ERNA ready for elephants

Since we acquired the land for Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA) in December 2016, it has been a whirlwind of continual progress. We have
  • restored and enhanced natural features of the land, including Elephant Lake
  • installed a specially designed double fence system for security and privacy enclosing 850-acres of elephant habitat
  • developed a separate one hundred-acre quarantine habitat where our new arrivals will acclimate to ERNA
  • built a state-of-the-art barn, every feature of which will support elephant recovery and wellbeing
  • established a stellar veterinary care team and advisory board
Your unwavering support, whether financial, professional, physical or emotional, made this happen. We are incredibly grateful and excited to move on to ERNA's next chapter.
ERNA Volunteer Program Coordinators
Celebrate Their Two-Year Anniversary

ERNA Volunteer Coordinators
EAI volunteer coordinators Dillon and Julie Forbes (2nd and 3rd from left) and Bill Whitaker (4th from right) with ERNA volunteers (and that's Carol, center, with Java)

Dillon and Julie Forbes and Bill Whitaker have been with ERNA since our first volunteer day in 2017. No job is too big for them to tackle with our ever-growing team of volunteers - tearing down old cow fencing, removing piles of debris, cutting up fallen trees, repairing fences and preparing the land for elephants who will call ERNA home. Thank you, Dillon, Julie and Bill, for your dedication and leadership.

And if you'd like to meet Dillon, Julie and/or Bill in person, sign up for one of our upcoming Volunteer Days! ERNA is ready for elephants but there's always work to be done. We still have debris to clear, fencing to mend, seeds to plant and more! It's a rewarding day and you'll spend it with fellow elephant lovers.
2018 EAI Annual Report - Reflections on a Year of Progress

Taking time to sit down and catalog the milestones of 2018 for the EAI Annual Report was revealing, exciting and humbling. We really have accomplished so much over the past year and have many to thank. From the development of ERNA to the expansion of our reach in Asia, 2018 was a year of incredible progress. Read the 2018 Annual Report.
Send mom and EAI honor gift

One of the many things humans and elephants share is the strong bond between mothers and children. On Mother's Day (May 12), let your mom know how much she means to you with a donation to EAI in her honor. You'll express your love and appreciation while helping elephants in need. You can send mom her card by email or we'll send you a printable honor card PDF.

On May 4, director Alex Rivera will represent Elephant Aid International at #TEAMEARTH Conservation Day in Bristol, England, at a screening of his film UNCHAINED, which documents EAI's work to improve captive elephant welfare in Nepal. For more details and to purchase tickets, CLICK HERE.

The Asociación para el Vínculo Humano-Animal hosted a screening of UNCHAINED on March 27 in Seville, Spain.

Would you like to host a screening of UNCHAINED? If you have a friend with an in-home theater or know of a theater that would provide their space for an EAI fundraiser, please contact us so we can help you get this important film to a theater near you.
As always, we greatly appreciate your interest, commitment and help. You make our work for elephants around the world possible. Thank you!
