Hey Grace'rs,
Last week I invited you to ask the question: Do I have a tough heart?

A tough heart is not afraid to wrestle with new ideas. A tough heart is not afraid to peel away areas of disagreement to find something worth learning. A tough heart isn’t threatened by being stretched with new concepts or ways of seeing the world. A tough heart is not afraid to change one’s mind based on new insights or information. A tough heart is a teachable heart. A tough heart is a learning heart.

A tough heart is rooted in the grace and truth of Jesus.

Pastor and Church Strategist Carey Nieuwhof wrote a blog recently entitled: Why I’m Changing My Mind About Technology.

Here’s an excerpt that speaks to our need for tough-hearted followers of Jesus:

A while ago I was at a conference and I quoted a well-known author and got some negative emails about even mentioning him. Rather than reply in writing, I talked to the people in person about their concerns and in the process, asked them if they had ever read the author in question or listened to one of his talks. They hadn’t.

It’s fascinating (and a bit concerning) to me that we live in an age in which people can hold passionate opinions about something they know almost nothing about.

Sadly, this even includes our faith or lack of it.

If you push the ranting, raving and animated discussion aside and probe a little deeper, many people are three questions away from their worldview collapsing.

A tough heart is willing, led by the Spirit of God, to ask honest questions in order to see where God is leading us…which is always into grace and truth.

A tough heart will ask these three questions to build on a stable, Christ-Centered worldview:
Why?
Why?
Why?

And a tough heart will always lead to a humble heart…But that’s for next week!

Spirit of the Living God
Fall afresh on me…

Spirit of the Living God
Fall afresh on me…

Melt me
Mold me
Fill me
Use me

Spirit of the Living God
Fall afresh on me.
