NORTH COUNTRY VISIT BY ROBERT HICKMAN
The North Country Chamber of Commerce was pleased to be part of a North Country visit by Robert Hickman, Transportation Counsel to U.S. Senator Charles Schumer. The day included briefings and tours at Nova Bus and Bombardier Transportation, followed by a discussion of economic development and transportation at the Chamber. We thank Robert for coming. RAFAEL SANTANA TO SUCCEED RAY BETLER AS WABTEC PRESIDENT AND CEO
Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) today announced Rafael Santana will become president and CEO of the company, effective July 1, 2019. Santana, who will also become a Wabtec board member, will succeed Ray Betler, who will retire as a Wabtec executive and board member.
Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, recently met in Montreal with Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec Minister for Economy and Innovation. Our region's Transportation Equipment and Aerospace cluster, with its many cross border connections with Quebec, was a key topic. We look forward to working with the Minister to continue building our strategic connections in this sector.

The Workforce Development Institute works to grow and keep good jobs in NYS. They use a range of tools such as; ground level information, workforce expertise and grant funding to facilitate projects. They work to build workforce skills and strengthen employer's ability to hire, retain and promote employees. They are "boots on the ground" problem solvers that identify workforce trends, opportunities and challenges. They also seek to forge strong, collaborative partnerships to address them.
