5 Questions With Dave Adkisson, President and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce
Dave Adkisson serves as President and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, which represents more than 3,800 businesses across the state, employing over half of the state’s workforce. The Chamber works to advocate and unite businesses and last year was named “State Chamber of the Year” by the Council of State Chambers. Last week, Mr. Adkisson sat down with KMA to talk about his background, the organization’s priorities, and why physicians should consider getting involved. 

KPLI Grad Monalisa Tailor, M.D. Says Program Helps Physicians "Serve as a Voice to Care for and Advocate for our Patients"
We asked Monalisa Tailor, M.D., with Norton Community Medical Associates: Barret in Louisville, to tell us about her experience participating in KMA’s  Kentucky Physicians’ Leadership Institute (KPLI) , the premier leadership training program for Kentucky physicians. She’s also a graduate of the Community Connector Leadership Program , a KMA program that helps physicians enhance their leadership skills through education and direct community involvement.

Call for Resolutions
In accordance with KMA bylaws that were adopted by the 2014 House of Delegates, all resolutions being submitted for consideration during the 2018 KMA Annual Meeting must be received at KMA headquarters no later than July 25, 2018. All resolutions received after the deadline will be considered new business at the House of Delegates and must:

  • Show that the issue addressed by the resolution either did not exist or was unknowable until after the deadline;
  • Be accepted by the House as new business with unanimous consent; and
  • Acquire an affirmative vote of three-fourths of those Delegates present and voting for adoption.

Elections to Take Place at Annual Meeting
KMA officers and trustees for the 2018-2019 Association year will be elected by the KMA House of Delegates at its meeting, Sunday, Aug. 26, during the KMA Annual Meeting at the Louisville Marriott East. Click here for a list of positions to be filled. Email  schott@kyma.org to submit a nomination. 
KMA Recognizes Members For Contributing to the 2018 Legislative Session With ‘Advocacy in Action’
Advocacy comes in many forms, and KMA members work hard to make sure the physician voice is heard in Frankfort and beyond. Thanks to all our outstanding members for speaking out for the interests of the medical community.

Pictured at left: Robert Couch, M.D., provided valuable testimony to the Senate Health and Welfare Committee on March 14 regarding House Bill 69. The bill went on to pass favorably from both chambers and was recently signed by the Governor.

Alliance Doctors' Day Proclamation Signed by Gov. Bevin
Members of the KMA Alliance were honored to meet with Gov. Matt Bevin who recently signed the Alliance Doctors’ Day proclamation, which was celebrated around the nation on March 30.
