Rocket Report
Vol. 2, No. 34, April 26, 2019
Our 2nd grade students will make their First Holy Communion
this Sunday at 1:30pm. All are welcome.
Words with Wilson
A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” Author Unknown

We are truly blessed at St. Roch Catholic School with wonderful teachers and support staff. Every member of our team gives freely of themselves each day to serve the children we are entrusted with. They show up each day excited for the day ahead. They work countless hours in and out of the classroom.

This coming week we will be celebrating our teachers and support staff. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank-you to all of our staff at St. Roch Catholic School. Thank you so much for all the hard work and energy you put into your job. When visitors walk through our hallways, they see children learning, working, smiling and laughing. Test scores have now become a way of life in the world of education, but it's vital that we not lose the wonderful moments and memories that happen each and every day. Those memories are because of you and your dedication.

As we celebrate this week, I invite all students and parents to take time to thank a teacher or support staff member. Whether it is with a hug, a handshake or a handwritten note, let’s have a week that truly celebrates how special they are!
Spring Sing
Wednesday, May 1st @ 6pm
Spring Sing will include all 3rd - 8th grade choir members. All participants should arrive by 5:45pm. Dress attire will be "We Are St. Roch" shirts with jeans or any appropriate bottoms. Spring Sing will take place in the church.

All are welcome to enjoy this beautiful concert that Mrs. Elam has put together.
May Crowning
Friday, May 3rd @ 1:30pm
May is the month of Mary in our Catholic Church, and one of the ways that we show reverence to our Blessed Mother during this special time is to participate in a May Crowning ceremony. We crown Mary, because  she is the Mother of Christ the King, and Mary herself shows us the way to experience the joys of the Kingdom of Heaven.  When Jesus preached about the Kingdom of God, he stressed the importance of humility. “The last will be first” he said to his disciples (Mt 20:16). The Virgin Mary is a model of humility for us. If we want to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, then Mary shows us the way.

Adult Volunteers (and 6th Graders)
We need everyone’s help to make MayFest a success! We are asking that every parent volunteer for at least one shift during Mayfest (if you are a 2 parent household, we need BOTH parents to work a shift). There are MANY people who go above and beyond this request! We have times and opportunities to fit everyone’s schedules. And as usual, we will need people to help work the booths, Monte Carlo area, food areas, etc. Please sign up using the link below.

Sixth grade students wishing to earn service hours may sign up with an adult on this link for Kid’s games only.
7th & 8th Grade Students
Each 7th and 8th grade student is required to work 1 shift during Mayfest. Please note that the sign up has been set up a little differently this year and we are allowing the 7th and 8th graders to work a shift with their peers. We will not be using money for the kids games this year, they will be using punch cards. It is imperative that the students show up for their shifts, be on time, and manage the games responsibly as this is a fundraiser for the school.
