Trans Youth-Apalooza

Youth Services at the Center is hosting Trans Youthapalooza 2018 on June 30
for ages 24 and under. This is a one day convention of workshops, give aways, support spaces, kids corner, free services like haircuts, clothing, and food. 

LGBTQ+ San Diego: Stories of Struggles and Triumphs
July 8, 2018-January 2020; 10:00AM-5PM
San Diego History Center

The San Diego History Center in partnership with the Lambda Archives of San Diego brings the first-ever exhibition in Balboa Park focused on the history of San Diego's LGBTQ+ community. Visitors will experience and learn about the struggles to overcome persecution, the battle with AIDS, bullying and intolerance, the power of the community, and the tremendous strides taken in the fight for equal rights. The exhibit curator is noted author and historian Lillian Faderman.

Exhibition runs: July 8, 2018 - January 2020.

Pride 5K Run and Walk

University Avenue at Centre Street Hillcrest

The annual charity Pride 5k Race and Walk is held along the Pride Parade route through Hillcrest and Balboa Park. The crowds begin to form at 
9:30  so you'll have lots of spectators and cheering to help you achieve your goals!  Participants will receive a beautiful, top-quality, short-sleeve shirt (available in men's and women's cuts). Coming Out Group

The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting.  This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out.  Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The group is open to new members the first 3 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

The Black Resource Center proudly presents the end of the year project Black Community Close Out. Black Community Close Out will be happening Friday, June 1st from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm in Sixth College Dogg House Quad. You don't want to miss the BRC's final End of the Year event, as we will be celebrating the culmination of another year at UC San Diego for all Black people on campus. The event will include food, music, dance, sports, games, and community. We hope to see you there!

Following the video presentation there will be a space of discussion to analyze mass incarceration and deconstruct the school to prison pipeline and how it operates locally.

Melissa BaƱales' LTWR 113 worksop presents: GRRRLS TO THE FRONT, a celebration of Riot Grrrl at UCSD. Riot Grrrl was a 90's feminist movement fighting for the visibility of women & grrrls in the punk-rock scene. It has since served as a catalyst for featuring the art, music, writing & experiences of ALL women, grrrls & femmes. Come through for an afternoon of punk, writing & zine workshops, an open-mic and other activities focused on centering and loving grrrls, especially women of color, queer grrrls and trans women. Bring your art/zines, bring your poems, bring your stories, bring your friends and bring your wonderful selves for REVOLUTION, GRRRL STYLE!!!

African Student Association Presents: Celebration of Africa

Join UCSD African Students Association (ASA) on  May 24th, 2018  for our eighth Celebration of Africa (COA) from 6-9 PM! There will be free food, a spoken word piece, student and professional performances, as well as a Fashion show featuring Nigerian designer, Ugochi Iwuaba and Ethiopian designer, Hagereseb! This year, COA's theme is the Swahili word, 'Safari' which honors the journeys and narratives of the African diaspora made by African people globally. This event is FREE for everyone!
