Tickets are now available for members for the 65th Annual Meeting of the League of Women Voters of Broward County on Saturday, April 28.

Keynote speaker will be Chris Smith, a member of the Florida Constitutional Revision Commission and a former leader in the Florida House and the Florida Senate. His topic will be  "What's at Stake on the 2018 Florida Ballot: Constitutional Amendments and More."

The event, which begins with coffee and a business meeting at 10 a.m. where members approve League officers, program and budget, includes a noon lunch with awards and the keynote speaker.

Tickets are $42 for members and $50 for non-members.

The event will be held at Plantation Preserve Golf Course and Club, 7050 W. Broward Blvd., Davie, in a dining room with big windows overlooking the scenic golf course.

For the last year, Chris Smith has served as the only commissioner from Broward County on the Florida Constitutional Revision Commission. By May 10, the CRC, which meets every 10 years, must approve constitutional amendments that will be placed on the 2018 Florida ballot.

Smith has a record of leadership in the Florida legislature.  He is a partner with the Tripp Scott Law Firm.

This event has a capacity of 80 and is expected to sell out, so tickets are being offered to members first before invitations go out to others.

Students: Join the League for free

To support high school and college students in their movement to express their voice at the ballot box, the League has waived its student membership fee. 

The Broward League will launch a student recruitment effort soon, but in the meantime, here is  how to join the League. if you are a student.
