The multi-city attacks killed more than 250 people and injured more than 500, according to the most recent reports. Let us pray for the souls of those who died and ask Almighty God to comfort the many families who lost loved ones. May the Resurrection's message of love and hope resonate throughout the world.

St. Sarkis Saturday School Easter Brunch

On Saturday, April 20th Suzanne & Hovsep Hagopian Saturday School hosted an Easter Brunch and  Holy Communion for families with young children. After a brief church service, everyone headed downstairs to the main hall for an Easter Brunch.
There was a delicious array of breakfast items, which was prepared by our very own Yn. Annie Terterian and Mrs. Lena Felice, for attendees to enjoy.

Joelle Entertainment from Canada and some of our Saturday School students entertained the children. She was full of energy and kept the children engaged in song and dance. It was nice to see all the big smiles on everyone's face.

After her performance children took pictures with Joelle and the Easter bunny. Parents had  the opportunity to purchase her CD's. A portion of the CD and DVD sales were donated to our Saturday School.

During Easter Brunch a few young ladies from our Saturday School drew beautiful scenic pictures and sold them to attendees. The girls requested the money they raised to be used towards a Summer Camp activity of their choice. Great job girls!

Special thanks to Mrs. Lena Orangian for teaching the Saturday School students various Joelle's dance moves.

Many thanks to the lovely ladies of the PTA for putting together yet another successful Easter Brunch!

THE EPISTLE OF ST. JAMES THE APOSTLE (5.1-11)
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.
When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO JOHN (1.1-17)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' " From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
