Children & Youth News
Action Pack 9:30 on ZOOM. This Fall our EverKids Sunday School theme is Camping in the Kingdom, from Echo Imprint Curriculum. We will go on a weekly wilderness adventure as we learn all that God has to teach us. Echo Imprint's 3-in-1 curriculum teaches in a traditional, fully online, and hybrid learning model, so that students can learn at church, learn remotely, or mix the two styles as needed.
Sunday School 10:30am. Our Children’s Church program provides the UMC EverKids with a formal Sunday School curriculum. Children begin the 10:30 service in the sanctuary with their families and then participate in the Children’s Moment with the congregation. John Wesley’s Advice for Voting
According to a 1774 journal entry, Methodist founder, John Wesley, urged Methodist Society members: "(1) To vote, without fee or reward, for the person they judged most worthy (2) To speak no evil of the person they voted against, and (3) To take care their spirits were not sharpened against those that voted on the other side." – UMNS 9/22/20

Ministry Jottings
What timeless and timely advice from John Wesley as we enter these final weeks before the Presidential and Colorado US Senatorial elections. Opinions seem to be at a fever pitch with conversations, sound bits and ads coming from all directions.
As we continue to be Christ’s body, seeking to honor and connect with one another, may we be thoughtful and considerate however we share whatever we chose to share. Let us have awareness that those we are joined together with in Christian discipleship look to us to bring the best of ourselves, keeping Christ’s values front and center in what we say, how we say it and what we do.
The youth used 1 Corinthians 12:25-27 in their service last Sunday and the staff also used it for our Lectio Divina devotion this week. [Thanks to our youth and Sarah for a great service!] The last two verses from The Message are: “If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, very other part enters into the exuberance. You are Christ’s body – that’s who you are. You must never forget this.”
Yes, we are citizens of the United States of America. We are grounded in this and proud of this, along with understanding the rights and responsibilities which go with it. And yet, let us remember our higher loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us model being the kind of citizens John Wesley, our church body and our Lord would be proud of.

Mary Margaret Schwindt Beckman died peacefully on August 9, 2020 in Winston Salem, North Carolina at the age of 83.
Mary was a Colorado native born in Ft. Morgan on April 20, 1937 to parents Jack and Katherine Schwindt. She was baptized on April 10, 1938 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Ft Morgan. She graduated from the University of Denver with a Nursing degree in 1958 and from the Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1983.
She married Robert Beckman in 1957 and they later divorced. She is survived by her three children Stuart Beckman (wife Veronica), Jacqueline Kay Quintrall and Marilee Robin Trickler; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and siblings, Bernell Schwindt and Charlene Ramsey along with 7 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jackson Schwindt.
Mary lived in Williamsville, New York and Bishop, California before settling in the Denver area. She worked as a registered nurse and later as an accountant but will always be fondly remembered for the time she was a stay at home mom to raise her three children.
Mary was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting. Her many works of art often depicted colorful scenes in nature. She also enjoyed playing piano and spending time traveling throughout the Colorado Rockies. Mary also did volunteer work for the Art Festival and the Yellow House food pantry located in Evergreen, Colorado. She was a vocal advocate and supported research to find a cure for Alzheimer's. Her final wishes were to donate her body in order to aid in finding a cure for this disease. A celebration of life is to be scheduled.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to her daughter, Robin Trickler, 5653 Windy Hill Dr, Winston Salem, NC, 27105.

Life's Options Changes Course and Will Remain in the Community
Life's Options Pregnancy Center will remain in the community, as it has for the past 30 years, changing a decision published in June. This community non-profit, faith-based outreach provides support to those struggling with a pregnancy decision, as well as providing services to moms and families trying to raise healthy families in difficult circumstances in our mountain community. They will continue to provide counselling, mentoring and parenting education programs, as well as the Kid's Closet infants & kids thrift store. Our own Janine Payton is manager of the Kid's Closet and serves on Life's Options oversight team. For these important efforts to continue, prayers and financial support is needed. Instead of the annual "fill-a-bottle-with-change", they encourage us to send donations directly or place in the one large jar in our Fellowship Hall. Their mailing address for donations is Life's Options PO Box 667, Evergreen, CO, 80437.
