In Person Worship Update...
Here are a few reminders for you when coming to worship:

  • Be diligent with the 6 feet social distancing requirements. This applies everywhere in the building and in the parking lot.
  • Remember to use the hand sanitizer available in the narthex or pews.
  • Please do not stop in the narthex or inside the sanctuary doors to visit. We would like everyone to have a seat in the sanctuary as quickly as possible when arriving.
  • We ask for your patience with exiting. Please have a seat after the pastor has ended the service and wait for the ushers to dismiss your row. They start at the back of the sanctuary. For everyone’s safety and proper distancing, follow the ushers instructions.

Flu season is coming, and we still have Covid-19 around. So, how can you tell the difference between the two? They both have many of the same symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, sore throat, headache, and muscle aches. BUT, the top symptom that the flu does NOT usually exhibit is a loss of, or change in your sense of smell or taste. Another difference is that if you have sneezing or a running nose, that is usually a cold, or allergies, but NOT Covid-19. Hope this helps.
Weekly Spotlights
Fall, a time of reflecting with the changing of the seasons. Up North, the leaves are turning brilliant colors and starting to fall in preparation for the winter’s return.  In Florida we have less dramatic changes, but easy to visualize as we also start the winter preparation.

As children of God, we should continue to make our preparation for His return. We don’t have the Law as the Jewish Religion does for doing good works, however, Christ, Himself set examples for us to follow by caring, sharing, and loving our fellow man. Over these past months since Covid Virus, the Outreach Committee was able to “abundantly provide” for our community, and meet the expectation of Jesus. This was accomplished through the wonderful kindness and giving of Emmanuel’s congregation. Through our ministries Emmanuel gave both monies and food to Family Promise, Coffee Talk, Dade Farm Workers, Bib Brothers and Sisters, The Disabled American Veterans, The South County Food Bank , as well as other ministries.

Our major contribution of food through “God’s Work- Our Hands” to the South County Food Pantry was a tremendous and successful effort by all of you. Thanks so much to a caring congregation. Having the Van from the Food Panty made our collection flow much easier. We are going to use this same process when we start the Thanksgiving Food Collection.

Our Outreach Ministries will continue this fall with the Venice Mobile Meals, and the Loveland Center. In December we look forward to the JOY of setting up a Christmas Tree to select gifts for one or two families from the Lutheran Social Service as well as toys for families at SPARCC. Remember Emmanuel’s congregation is rich in talents and experience, we encourage your ideas and assistance.

The Energizer Quilters!
The Dorcas ladies don't want to stop. We had made 100 quilts when we were shut down at the end of March. The count is now 254 all because Linnea and Chris assemble the back, batting and top, held together with large safety pins, Pennie and Kathy take those to sew around the sides at home, and when those come back, others take them home to tie. It's working very nicely and everyone is happy to see each other even if it's 15 minutes.
Thanks to Jackie Miller for the update!!
In the News...
The office is always trying to keep you informed. Here are a few items for you:

  • The Oct-Dec edition of Christ in Our Home is available at the office or are also available at worship services.

  • The only way we know that someone in our church family is in the hospital and/or in need of prayers etc., is if you call the office and give us the information. We will then forward it to Pastor Hall, Pastor Davis, Barb, and/or the prayer chain.

  • Because of the reduced hours of the office, the deadline for articles for the eNews is Tuesday at 9am.

  • Please remember to wear your name tag to church - sometimes it is hard to tell who is behind that mask! 🙂

  • Please notify the office of any address, email, phone number, etc. changes you have made so our records are up-to-date. We try to keep our church database and mobile directory current. It is the best source for member information. If you do not have the link to the mobile directory, email the office and we will send you the instructions and password.
There is still time to join us...
A new Zoom Confirmation Class with Pastor Hall and Donna Batchelor has begun on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. If you have youth in grades 6th and up who have not been confirmed, contact Kelley Hurlburt, Youth Director for details.
