Dear Families-
The events in Parkland, Florida have, once again, created a sense of anxiety for all Americans. Schools are at the heart of our communities and anytime that there is an act of senseless violence it impacts us all in very real ways. Safety in our schools is of prime importance. Our community has invested in our physical structures to provide enhanced security features. Secure entrances, inclusion of additional cameras and other features have helped to create a safer environment for staff and students. Beyond physical structures, we all have the responsibility to safe guard our schools by being aware and communicating with admin or police when there might be a concern for safety. We have also worked with local law enforcement in recent weeks to review safety and security protocols. This was the topic of our most recent faculty meeting that was attended by Oregon Police Chief, Brian Uhl. We have a training video that has been produced and will be shared with students in the very near future. We have a great responsibility in providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. We take that responsibility very seriously. Thank you for your support!
Also... please do not miss our spring Parent-Teacher Conferences. They will be held here on Tuesday and Thursday of next week (March 13 and 15). Conferences are a great way to stay abreast of your student's progress and to keep those lines of communication open. See you then.
Sincerely,
Jim
