March 2018

Dear friends

An update is way overdue and we are sorry.  Let's start with the beginning .  We are so excited that after sixteen months without, we are back in the 21st century and have internet access at home again. It will make communication so much easier and of course being able to talk to our kids and grandkids is priceless.

We had a special Christmas time with our oldest daughter and her family - the first one together in seven years and we loved every moment of it.

The first weekend of 2018 our sending church in the Netherlands had organized a first ever "bringing all the church's missionaries home" for a weekend. Wow did we get spoiled and have an amazing time, not only did the church take very good care of us, all of us participating in the weekend had time to share during the Sunday celebration time. The evenings were spent by sharing together what it is like to work and live on the mission field.

After flying back from the Netherlands in January, Rene and I parted ways, I continued my travels to Mexico for a Hope Force training and debrief time of the 2017 earthquake and Rene continued to Haiti. It was great to be with our Mexican reservists again and see many more trained.   While I was away, Rene together with Joseph and other community leaders had a time where, once again, seeds where given out to help the farmers with crops for their families as well as for sale on the market.

After Mexico I flew back to Haiti to be back only eight days to then fly to Nepal. The organization HFI partners with is amazing and once again our time there was wonderful. In total we treated 1,174 patients in our medical and dental clinics and the construction team worked on a "fly away" house.

March
Now back in Haiti, we advanced the clock to summer time and we love the extra hour of light it gives us in the evening. With spring around the corner we also will soon celebrate Rene's birthday... It's a big one this year... I'll write more about that next week... so stay tuned.

In Sous Savanne life continues, we are grateful that the Sponsorship program continues to grow.  However we still get asked on an almost daily basis if we can add yet another child to the program. It's one of the realities of living here that we get asked many questions for help.

Next weekend we will celebrate Easter.  We will show the Jesus film for the people of Sous Savanne, and surroundings  praying that many will realize the true sacrifice Jesus made. That He paid the price and rose again.

Prayer points

Our health
Finishing the ECCA school building project (We only need another $30,000 )
