Legislative Update
Last Friday was the most interesting day yet. The Idaho State Tax Commission (ISTC) presented their budget to JFAC which included reorganization and changes to the ISTC structure. The new organizational chart includes hiring a Director to oversee all tax operations.

Tax Commission Chairman Tom Harris will lead the search for a director who is both a tax expert and administrator. The duties remaining with the Commissioners will include property tax appeals and the Board of Equalization and authority over legislative proposals and rules.

There will also be a separation of appellate functions from tax administration. It was presented that there was already statutory authority to make these changes without going before the state legislature.

Rulemaking continues to be the focus of most of the committees. House Revenue and Taxation completed its review of the Omnibus Rules package related to the Tax Commission this last week.
ISCPA 2020 Legislative Dinner Success
We had about 60 legislators, 45 members and many guests. This event was a great way for ISCPA members to engage with Idaho Legislators, and stakeholders from the State Tax Commission and the Idaho State Board of Accountancy.

It was a wonderful night and thank you to all who could attend.
