Dear Jones Family,

For the 10th year in a row, Jones College Prep has been recognized as a Gold Medal school in US News and World Report's annual ranking of "America's Best High Schools." Jones ranks 5th in the state of Illinois and 124th nationally out of more than 20,000 American high schools. The hard work and dedication of our students and faculty along with the unwavering support of our parents combine to make our school a great place to learn and grow. I could not be more proud of our school family!

Many thanks for all you do to make Jones such a special place.

Sincerely,
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at [email protected] or

JCP an Award-Winning Place in Illinois
JCP Building
Jones College Prep has been named
ONE OF ILLINOIS' 200 "GREAT PLACES"
Selected by Statewide Architect Association  for the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial
Nominations came from architects statewide and selected by AIA regional chapters. Nominations were weighed against criteria, including the AIA's "10 Principles of Livable Communities." They must be publicly accessible, pedestrian-friendly, designed on a human scale, and provide vibrant public spaces, among other requirements.

"Separately and in total, our 200 Great Places are more than just examples of good or even great design: They are a testament to humanity's need to shape their environment in a way that is often both pleasing and thought-provoking,"   said Kim Kurtenbach, AIA, architect with BLDD Architects and 2018 AIA Illinois Board President.

Girls Water Polo Team

Girls Water Polo Captures City Championship!!!!
The Girls Water Polo program won their first CPS City Championship by defeating Whitney Young 8-7 in a thriller double overtime at the University of Illinois Chicago Natatorium.

The Lady Eagles are now regulars in the city championship game, making an appearance for the third consecutive year. The two teams collided during the regular season, with the Lady Eagles coming out victorious with an 8-3 win at Whitney Young.

During the first half, the team got out to a quick 2-1 start, yet Young responded to lead at halftime. Junior Olivija Stephens made critical saves in the first half to keep the game tight. Senior captains Holly Beith-Mangrum and Grace Kelly scored 2 goals in regulation. Freshmen Sayra Gonzalez scored the tying goal at the buzzer in the first overtime to tie the game 7-7. Emma Salzman scored the game-winning goal with 25 seconds left in the second overtime to fend off Whitney Young and help earn the first CPS City Championship title in Aquatics program history.

Congratulations!

What you like,  what you'd like to see more or less of,  what's missing...

Please send your ideas, suggestions and comments regarding the FOJ Newsletter to [email protected]

Would you like to volunteer for
Friends of Jones in 2018/2019?
The communications team is looking to fill
a few keys roles for next year, including:

Website Administrator: continue to maintain and develop the FOJ website. WordPress familiarity and Website development experience is helpful.

Social Media Coordinator: keep the FOJ Facebook page and twitter feed up to date to keep our community informed.

These roles require a year-long commitment, but vary in time based on JCP and FOJ happenings.

Are you a whiz at developing web-based marketing materials in Mail Chimp?
We'd love help setting up the new format for our valuable FOJ newsletter. If you have Mail Chimp experience and a few hours to share, please let us know.
