Thank you to our friends over at Sophie's Bistro in Somerset for continuing their generous support of our residents during the holiday season.
For more than three years, Sophie's Bistro opens its doors from the middle of November to December for supplies, gifts, and other donations that support the residents at Dina's Dwellings.
But it's personal for Debbie Maddock, restaurant manager at Sophie's Bistro. For her, helping survivors of domestic violence and their children is particularly profound.
"I was one of these women and it was an absolutely terrifying point in my life. But I was lucky and escaped that horrible relationship," Maddock said upon her appeal to customers to donate.
"I started volunteering for Dina’s Dwellings and it is absolutely amazing what they have been doing for women in such desperate situations," Maddock said.
"We rely on our community partners to support our residents," said the Rev. Susan Kramer-Mills, executive director of Town Clock CDC, which oversees Dina's Dwellings.
"We are so thankful for Debbie and Sophie's Bistro for their ongoing support," Rev. Kramer-Mills said. "There's no describing how important they are to the families here."
