R.I.P. Nevin Scholl 

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of Nevin Scholl, friend to many and faithful Trappe Borough public servant. He served on Trappe Borough Council for over 15 years and as its President since January 2014. He had also served on many Trappe committees and as an appointee to Collegeville Trappe Public Works and Collegeville Trappe Municipal Authority. He was a member of Augustus Lutheran Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Nevin was a generous man who will be fondly remembered as a civic-minded community leader, gentleman, neighbor and friend.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Augustus Lutheran Church or the Trappe Fire Company. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23 at 11 am at Augustus Lutheran Church, 717 W Main St in Trappe. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, January 22 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and Wednesday, January 23 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe.

Ridge Pike Lane Closures

Limerick Township is planning lane restrictions with flagging on Ridge Pike between Lewis Road and Swamp Pike in Limerick Township, Montgomery County on Monday, January 21, through Friday, January 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for drainage improvement. 

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent

Did you know plastic bags taking up space in your closet can be woven into sleeping mats for people who are experiencing homelessness in our community? We welcome you to join us for this innovative, hands-on project. People of all ages and abilities are welcome. You will learn how to make plarn (plastic yarn) and weave it into colorful mats to make a difference for homeless people in our area. 

This program is free and open to all. You may attend any or all of the dates. Registration requested.

Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy invites you to join us for the 14th Annual Pennsylvania Championship Snowshoe Race at Spring Mount Ski Area. This year's event is shaping up to the best ever! We have a great course, a great cause, and a great after-party! 

Registration begins at 7 am. The race begins at 8 am sharp! The Snowshoe 5k is great for pros, newbies, kids, runners and walkers alike. Bring your own snowshoes or rent a pair from us for just $10 (while supplies last). After the race, Boardroom Spirits of Lansdale will be providing hot rum cider for those over 21 (with valid ID) and cider without the punch for those too young to belly up to the bar.

We're hoping for snow so we can send you off on the 5k cross country course. Don't worry though, even if we don't get snow we'll hold the race right on the slopes!

Organist Alan Morrison performs the first Heefner organ recital of the spring semester. He will present a varied program featuring works by Jeanne Demessieux, Cesar Franck, Wayne Oquin, Florence Price, Harold Stover and Ursinus College's student composer, Julian Schwartz. Morrison is one of North America's premier concert organists and is the Haas Charitable Trust Chair in Organ Studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. T he Lower Providence Community Library will host a program on human trafficking, presented by Carly Bruski, Executive Director of The Montgomery County Against Human Trafficking Coalition (MCAT). Ms. Bruski will be discussing what human trafficking is, including signs and statistics.

The Montgomery County Against Human Trafficking Coalition (MCAT), formed in 2011, is the largest volunteer citizen movement seeking to combat human  trafficking in Montgomery County through fostering awareness education and prevention of forced labor and sex trafficking.

T he Lower Providence Community Library presents North Penn S Gaugers Model Train Exhibit. 
They will set up and operate a portable S gauge model train layout for the enjoyment and education of the library community.  Members of the North Penn S Gaugers will be available from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Friday and 10:00 am until 3:30 pm on Saturday, to answer questions and discuss the history of the S scale trains.
The North Penn S Gaugers are a diverse group of S gauge enthusiasts formed in 1998, based in Lansdale.  Their interests range from American Flyer through Fine S scale equipment.

Team Development Concepts presents The Art (and Science) of Downsizing Workshop at Perkiomen Valley School District.  Do you feel overwhelmed when you walk through the rooms of your house? Are you afraid to open your closets? Is it time to move to a smaller house but you don't know how to approach the daunting task of purging? Do you want to avoid burdening your kids with the responsibility of dealing with all of your stuff? In this class, we will explore your goals in downsizing and how to accomplish those goals utilizing practical, empowering strategies. We will discuss how to decide what to keep, what to sell, what to give away, and what to pitch, and how to do all of these things using social media, online sites, etc. At the end of each class, participants will be asked to come up with a specific goal of what they will accomplish before the next class, and then will be asked to share their progress. Pianist Dr. Carl Cranmer in Concert at Community Music School.  Pianist Carl Cranmer made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age nine, playing Mozart's Concerto in A, K, 488. Since then, in addition to solo recitals in Europe, Asia, and North America, he has performed in concert with the Royal Philharmonic of England, the Gulbenkian Orquesta of Portugal, the Juilliard Orchestra and several other orchestras on the Eastern Seaboard. PVSD Seeks Donations From The Community
Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking financial support to build a Viking statue on the Perkiomen Valley High School Campus that will stand as a permanent representation of our school district pride and also mark the district's 50th anniversary . The project costing $85,000 was recently approved by the school board. PV is now seeking funds to raise the money in time for a Spring 2019 dedication.
