Digital Harbor Foundation's Maker Foundations
Enjoy learning new skills and creating projects as you explore popular maker topics. In this flagship program, youth will design and 3D print your own creations, learn to program games and make your own game artwork, make a website, create interactive electronics, and much more! Tower of Power in Your Classroom!
Join Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering in celebrating National Engineers Week (February 17-23, 2019) by building a tower from spaghetti and marshmallows. The tallest freestanding tower wins!
The top five winning middle school teams will be invited to JHU's Tower of Power competition on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 to build their tower again and compete with undergraduate students, alumni, and faculty teams.

JHU Engineering Innovation
Engineering Innovation is an exciting college-level summer program for motivated high school students with an aptitude in math and science and an interest in (or curiosity about) engineering. Students learn to think and problem-solve like engineers and have the opportunity to earn Johns Hopkins University (JHU) credit.

Research and Engineering Apprenticeship Program
The Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute at Johns Hopkins University hosts the Research and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP) created by the US Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP). REAP is a summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program that places talented high-school students from groups historically under-represented and underserved in research apprenticeships at U.S. colleges and universities. REAP apprentices work on a hands-on research project under the direct supervision of a mentor, exposing them to the real world of research and allowing them to learn about education and career opportunities in STEM.

Maryland Science Olympiad
Maryland Science Olympiad will be hosting the Baltimore City Regional Tournament. Middle school students from over 25 schools in Baltimore City will be competing for medals in events ranging from bottle rockets to towers and propeller planes! Volunteers are needed to help supervise events. Come check out the students' projects and see what MSO is all about!

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
Maryland State Championship
FIRST LEGO League provides students age 9-14 with a hands-on, interactive robotics program in a sports-like atmosphere. The State Championship will feature 80 teams who have earned their way to this competition. There are a variety of volunteer positions and 250+ volunteers will participate in this event. Training is provided for all positions.

FIRST Chesapeake District Competition
High-school student participants call it "the hardest fun you'll ever have." Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of 20 or more students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It's as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Consider signing up to volunteer! Some volunteer positions require technical skills, but many simply require enthusiasm and willingness to help support FIRST. All roles come with training and a supportive community. All FIRST events are free and open to the public.

Become a SABES Mentor
SABES (STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools) is looking for Mentors to work in our afterschool program. Mentors will assist in the classroom as students complete engaging STEM projects. Our afterschool program provides students with opportunities to grow their knowledge and curiosity, and lead inquiry-based projects related to their community's needs.
If you have a background or interest in STEM and want to mentor 3rd - 5th grade students, please consider becoming a STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools (SABES) mentor!
