The Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute at Johns Hopkins University hosts the Research and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP) created by the US Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP). REAP is a summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program that places talented high-school students from groups historically under-represented and underserved in research apprenticeships at U.S. colleges and universities. FIRST Chesapeake District Competition

High-school student participants call it "the hardest fun you'll ever have." Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of 20 or more students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It's as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Consider signing up to volunteer! Some volunteer positions require technical skills, but many simply require enthusiasm and willingness to help support FIRST. All roles come with training and a supportive community. All FIRST events are free and open to the public.

Deadline: Saturday, March 16th & Sunday, March 17th, 2019
Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Volunteer times vary.
