🎵 Middle School Matching Process

Dear New Middle School Families,

We are looking forward to the start of the school year!

We are also excited to begin introducing you to our instrumental music and choral program, and as such, the music matching process is taking place on Friday, September 11—on the BVR campus!

WHAT THIS MEANS

Every Beaver Middle School student participates in our music program, taking music class for the whole school year. The matching process gives them a chance to try each instrument and participate in chorus, and allows the teachers to observe students playing the instruments and singing. Throughout the matching process, students take notes on their experience on each instrument and express their preferences. Teachers collect these forms at the end of the process and meet to match students with their instruments based on feedback from the teachers, students, and the open spaces in each ensemble.

Matching day is Friday, September 11—rain or shine!

OVERVIEW OF OUR PROGRAM

STAYING SAFE

Safety is our number one priority. We have carefully planned this to be a safe process, with social distancing and other protocols in place. All the music instruments have been sanitized, one of each for every child—that means 60 flutes, 60 trumpets, 60 violas, etc.!

The following protocols will be in place for this event:

Groups of 10 students or less, social distanced (6 feet apart) at all times, including the drop off and pick up times.
Everyone will wear a mask when not playing or singing.
All sessions will take place outside. Students will only go indoors to use the bathroom and move to another part of campus.
Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the day, and encouraged at the beginning and end of each station.
Every student has a unique instrument and supplies at every station.
Tubas are the only instrument that we have in limited numbers. Students will only use their own individual tuba mouthpiece, separate from the actual tuba. They will also get to hold the tuba, and the tubas will be sanitized between every rotation.
Bathrooms are available, and we will have scheduled breaks. (Only one student will be in a bathroom at any given time)
Chairs will be wiped down between sessions.
Families will complete this symptom check the morning of the event to make sure any students with COVID-19 symptoms stay home.
