Home Certification Makes Top 10: Preference Survey

This year for the first time, the Home Buyer Preference Survey Top 10 "Must Have" features includes a desire by homebuyers for a home that is certified as energy efficient by a recognized program, such as ENERGY STAR or Net Zero. Five of the Top 10 were related to energy efficiency. 

The annual Avid Ratings/CHBA survey was released in April at the CHBA National Conference in Victoria. 

California to Require Solar in All New Homes in 2020

As of 2020, California - already the U.S. leader in installed solar capacity with almost 16 percent of the state's electricity - will require that all new homes have solar power.

California law will require at least 50 percent of the state's electricity to come from noncarbon-producing sources by 2030. Solar power has increasingly become a driver in the growth of the state's alternative energy production.

EnerQuality Builders Clean Up at BILD Awards

At the 38th Annual BILD Awards on May 4, nine EnerQuality ENERGY STAR builders took home 11 awards between them.

The haul included two of the top awards of the night: Home Builder of the Year - Low Rise for Mattamy and Home Builder of the Year - Mid/High Rise for Great Gulf .

Some of the other awards for high performance builders were Green Builder of the Year - Low Rise for Dunsire, Best Innovative Home Design for Arista, Best Luxury Home Design to Acorn and Best New Community - Built for Menkes.

OHBA Housing Tour to The Netherlands

EnerQuality is excited to sponsor OHBA's upcoming four-day Housing Tour to The Netherlands, June 10-14. 

OHBA will be travelling with a small group of builder and developer members to Amsterdam and Rotterdam with a strong focus on modern architecture, energy sustainability, panelized building envelope systems and active transportation within complete communities.

Climate Change Council Webinar on May 16

The OHBA Climate Change Council is holding its next webinar on May 16, discussing "Getting to the Next Code" and how an Integrated Design Process can help buildings in adopting more energy efficient building practices.  

Attendees will hear from experts and peers that have participated in the Savings By Design Program about their benefits and experiences in the program.
