The Georgia House of Representatives’ Page Program

This is an opportunity offering Georgia’s students between 12 and 18 years of age and older to visit the State Capitol and serve with the members of the House of Representatives. This program has become an essential part of the services provided to both the legislators and the public. For over 50 years, the experience of a legislative page has sparked many political aspirations and has been a connective link between elected leaders and Georgia’s young students.

How to apply:

Complete the Page Interest Form  and email or fax it to your Representative’s Administrative Assistant

After your interest form has been reviewed and approved by House Page Staff, you will be contacted by your Representative’s Administrative Assistant confirming which date has been selected for you to page.

Message From
Rep. Roger Bruce
Good news for federal workers that were out of work. The government is open, at least for three weeks. They have been promised that they will receive back pay. Unfortunately, a final agreement has still not been reached and we could see another shutdown or the president declaring a state of emergency and redirecting funds to build his wall. Let's hope we do not have a repeat of the shutdown and that the business of our government is not held hostage again.

I expect there will be people advocating, this session, to allow for the cultivation of Marijuana in Georgia. This is likely to be a heated discussion as both sides of this issue are passionate. I am seeking your input on this subject but I ask that, to the extent possible, remove the emotion and share facts and sources. The arguments get confusing if you don't separate the medical use from the recreational use. There are also several components of the plant that, when separated, provide different benefits or cause harm, so let's have an educated but robust discussion. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and I will post some of it in future newsletters.

Below is a report that provided interesting information regarding marijuana cultivation and usage.

Voting Machines Under Review

Join us on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at 2pm in room 410 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building to see a variety of voting machine options and to participate in a conversation with Members of the General Assembly, Sarah Amico (Former Candidate for Lt Governor), Sarah Henderson- Head of Common Cause, Sara Ghazal - Director Voter Protection (Democratic Party of Georgia) and others.

There were many issues with this last election that left several contest in limbo for months and several in legal challenges. It is important that we become familiar with the options. We are advocating for a machine that can read and count a paper ballot.
