Dear Parents,
This week we prepare for the Easter Triduum, which begins with the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, on Holy Thursday, and reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil and closes with the evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
The "Read To Feed" fundraiser ends on Monday, March 26th so please remember to submit your logs/donations to the main office as soon as possible.
An author visit is scheduled for Grades K - 5 on Tuesday morning, March 27th. Joe Shandrowski will lead a Reading Pep Rally. If your child would like to reserve a signed book, please click here and return the form and check to the main office.
We hope our families who are attending "Aladdin" tomorrow will have wonderful time!

Hello St A's Parents,
We are exploring the idea of utilizing bus service as an option for transportation to and from school for families who do not live in New Canaan. We'd like to gauge overall interest first, and then we will provide you with more details if we can bring this to fruition.
Please fill out this simple survey at your earliest convenience.

Mrs. Moran's son, Billy Moran (center), and his Georgian students thank the 6th graders and the entire St. Aloysius Community for the wonderful donated books that were collected from the St. Nicholas Day book swap! Kids helping kids! Nothing is better than that!
The screen with the thank you sign in the background was purchased along with a projector with grant money obtained by Peace Corp Volunteer, Billy Moran. With the leftover money he obtained shelving to house the St. A's donated books.

For the past six months, S.L.A.M. members have taken on the task of writing updates for the school newsletter. Today, I would like to take this opportunity to comment on how very proud I am of these student members and all that they have accomplished this year. When I developed the SLAM program, I had a vision in mind but the work these students have achieved in just a short while supersedes my expectations. SLAM students serve as Walking Buddies, Math Tutors, Athletic Assistants, Special Program Ambassadors, Art Apprentices, Tour Guides and Announcement Crew. They have implemented a program to promote a positive school climate by creating and distributing Thanksgiving Blessings bookmarks to the school, caroling during Christmas, creating Compliment Hearts at Valentine's Day and organizing the S.L.A.M. Talent Showcase scheduled for March 28th at 1pm. Please join us for this special event. DVDs will be sold to treasure the memory and raise money to benefit SLAM.
In addition to the school service element of the program, training sessions in all aspects of leadership are provided twice a month after school. In addition to providing leadership lessons in these sessions, leaders in all walks of life have been invited to speak with this group. Father Rob Kinnally (Pastor and Chancellor for the Diocese of Bridgeport), Nancy Leville (founder of Save God's Kids), Meg Domino from New Canaan Cares and , Andrew Nisco (American University School of Public Affairs Leadership Program) have all imparted their wisdom, experiences and understanding of leadership to these young leaders. I am pleased to announce that U.S. Congressman Jim Himes has graciously accepted my invitation to speak to the group on Wednesday, April 4th about his experiences leading at the national level. Congressman Himes represents Connecticut's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives where he is serving his fifth term. He is a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, serves as the ranking member of the NSA and Cybersecurity Subcommittee of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and is Chair of the New Democrat Coalition.
Future speakers include State Representative. Tom O'Dea and Cristin McCarthey Vahey, school guidance councelor and Dean of Students, Mrs. Erin Linnane and another visit by Meg Domino and her NCHS leaders.
Thank you all for your support of S.L.A.M.
Mrs. Marybeth Gioffre Nisco
Faculty Advisor
