One Water Summit 2017 Registration is Now Open

June 27-29, 2017, water leaders from across the country will gather in New Orleans for a thought-provoking and action-oriented national summit on what it will take to secure a sustainable water future for all. One Water Summit 2017 is a unique venue to craft innovative solutions, connect with influential leaders across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and forge the alliances needed to advance sustainable water solutions.
Many thanks to the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans for serving as our local host for One Water Summit 2017. New Orleans is the perfect backdrop for a dynamic, solutions-focused conversation about how we view, value, and manage water-now and for future generations.

February One Water Spotlight: Atlanta Department of Watershed Management
 
In the summer of 2012, two significant rainfall events caused major flooding in Atlanta and brought stormwater management concerns to the forefront for Mayor Kasim Reed and the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management. Atlanta, like many cities, was struggling with managing stormwater runoff that leads to flooding, degraded water quality, and property damage. In the last four years, Atlanta has emerged as a leader in green infrastructure through its commitment to incorporating best practices into stormwater management and implementing green infrastructure requirements for redevelopments and new projects throughout the City.

The City's dedication to implementing green infrastructure solutions to emerging climactic trends doesn't just impact the wellbeing of residents--it plays a vital role in determining Atlanta's resiliency in the coming years.  Read More 
Join Us in DC For Water Week!

As part of Water Week 2017, the US Water Alliance is a proud sponsor of the National Water Policy Fly-In, taking place on March 21-22 in Washington, DC.
 
With a renewed focus on infrastructure investment, there are new opportunities to elevate water as a national priority and advance one water management strategies. Join us and other water stakeholders as we call on Congress to work in partnership with the sector and invest in our nation's water and wastewater infrastructure.

The National Water Policy Fly-In will feature a Rally for Water, Regulatory Roundtables with EPA program directors, and an evening reception on Capitol Hill.

On March 22, the Value of Water Campaign will also unveil the findings from a new report that evaluates the economic benefits of investing in water infrastructure. The report finds if we close the investment gap for water infrastructure, there is a ripple effect of sustained job creation, GDP growth, and other benefits.

Don't Forget to Apply for the 2017 US Water Prize

The March 8 deadline for the 2017 US Water Prize is fast approaching! Awarded on an annual basis,
the US Water Prize celebrates outstanding achievement in the advancement of sustainable solutions to our nation's water challenges. It is the pre-eminent national recognition program for exemplary efforts to secure a sustainable water future for all. Each year, the award is presented to three organizations--one public sector, one private sector, and one community, civic, or research institution. For the first time, the US Water Prize will also be awarded to two individuals, a journalist and public official, whose work has made significant contributions to tackling our nation's greatest water challenges.

Value of Water Campaign Announces Infrastructure Week 2017

Infrastructure Week,  a national advocacy week to draw attention to the infrastructure investment gap, will take place May 15-19, 2017. 
The Value of Water Campaign is proud to join a broad coalition of business, labor, policy, and issue advocacy organizations to form the Steering Committee. Each year, Infrastructure Week engages hundreds of organizations across the country to raise awareness about the critical need to invest in our nation's infrastructure and why it is #TimeToBuild

Call for Utilities to Participate in Survey Cataloging Equitable Water Management Practices  

The US Water Alliance's project to better understand how water management impacts vulnerable communities is well underway. We are conducting a national scan of the challenges, opportunities, and promising practices being led by utilities, national nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, philanthropy, and academic institutions.
 
We want to hear how utilities are advancing groundbreaking strategies and models for addressing challenges that vulnerable communities face. Please  take this survey to help us catalog the unique challenges in your community and the work underway to address those challenges. Deadline is March 31.
