Registration, Inspection, Testing & Calibration
Businesses operating scales, bulk meters and LPG meters, must register these devices with the Texas Department of Agriculture annually .

At least once every four years, the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) requires devices to be inspected, tested and/or calibrated at facilities that sell liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

TDA inspectors conduct visual inspections of all meters and consumer information stickers, and review device registrations. Inspectors also verify compliance with NIST Handbook 44 Specifications, Tolerances and Other Technical Requirements identified by the Department.

If you have questions about the inspection process, registration or other device related matters,  WeightsMeasures@TexasAgriculture.gov  or call TDA (512) 463-7698.

Don't Forget Your Consumer Information Stickers
Regulations require that all Texas Weights & Measures devices be labeled with a Consumer Information Sticker and prominently display a technology-enabled Weights and Measures Certificate of Registration at your place of business.

Consumer information stickers must be affixed to fuel pumps and on/near bulk meters, LPG meters and scales.

If a consumer information sticker becomes damaged, destroyed, lost, or otherwise illegible so that any part of the information on the sticker is no longer fully legible and in compliance with the requirements of this section, the sticker shall be replaced.

Replacement stickers may be ordered by submitting an RWM-707 form to the department with the appropriate fees. It is the responsibility of the facility to keep consumer information stickers for all devices at all times.
