New Haven-Based ReNetX Bio, Inc. Closes Series A Funding and Expands Upon New Haven Roots Expansion Enhances City's Reputation as a Center for Innovation & Jobs  
 The Economic Development Corporation of New Haven has announced that New Haven-based ReNetX Bio, Inc., a private biotech company, has closed on its Series A funding and also solidified the relationship that the company has had with the city. The company plans to begin clinical trials on its drug within the year.

ReNetX Bio, Inc.'s mission is to provide first-in-class therapeutics to treat injury and damage to the central nervous system (CNS) in conditions such as spinal cord injury (SCI), stroke, and glaucoma. The company was founded based on the innovative technology from Dr. Stephen Strittmatter's work at Yale University to restore neurologic function after CNS injury. Read More


2018 Discover New England Summit 
In April, Sarah Washburn of Visit New Haven represented the region at the 2018 Discover New England Summit. The Summit is the only New England travel trade event where New England hospitality businesses are able to meet directly with international tour operators and receptive operators who arrange trips for tens of thousands of international travelers annually. This year, Sarah had a record-high 45 appointments and is following up with these tour operators and making connections with local hotels and attractions. Read More

Blavatnik Family Foundation gives $15 million to expand fund for innovation in the life sciences at Yale University  
Yale University has received a $15 million grant from the Blavatnik Family Foundation, headed by American industrialist and philanthropist Len Blavatnik, to expand the Blavatnik Fund for Innovation at Yale. First established in 2016 with a grant of $10 million, the Blavatnik Fund advances entrepreneurship in the life sciences at Yale and expedites the development, application, and commercialization of breakthrough research. The new grant will build on the fund's early successes in bolstering translational research and propelling the work of investigators toward the marketplace. Read More

Supplier Growth Summit 2018 
The Business Council of Fairfield County is sponsoring a Supplier Growth Summit event on May 23 in Stamford designed to help small and diverse businesses expand and grow their business with large corporations and organizations. We currently have 9 buyers signed on to participate in a match making session with prospective suppliers including GD Electric Boat, Pitney Bowes, Purdue Pharma, Quinnipiac, Sikorsky, Synchrony, Webster Bank and Coca-Cola.
