Spotlight on Spiritual Formation
Keri Olson is an inspirational author, speaker, writer, blogger, and photographer from Baraboo, WI. We'll be welcoming her to our Spiritual Formation hour this week as she speaks on Positive, Practical Topics of the Heart. Keri's life has been punctuated by illness, but rather than letting that define her, she's used it to reveal invaluable life lessons about healing, wholeness, abundance, and gratitude. Listen as she speaks about joy and mindfulness this Mother's Day. Her most recent book,
Find Your Heart, Follow Your Heart: Get to the Heart of What Matters and Create Your Abundant, Authentic, Joyful Life will be available to purchase.

Coming Up this Month
Julia Weaver, former women's chaplain at Dane County Jail, will be presenting on the art exhibit from the Backyard Mosaic Women's Project. This project features art by women currently or formerly incarcerated in Dane County Jail. All art was created during Bible studies with Rev. Weaver.
Don't miss this special presentation next week, May 20, in the Chapel.

Fair Maps Coalition Meeting
FUMC will be hosting The Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition on Tuesday, May 15, from 4-7 p.m. The Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition is comprised of organizational leaders from member groups working to fight partisan gerrymandering and to promote independent redistricting. The group will be holding a public hearing, open to all, in the Fellowship Hall. Come see this important process in action and find out how you can get involved.
Tabitha Circle
Our May meeting will be the last until September as we take our usual summer hiatus. Please note the day change! We will meet on Wednesday, May 16, in Room 208 from 1-2:30 p.m. at FUMC.
Emily Ford will lead the discussion of The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by
The Dalai Lama & Desmond Tutu. This is certainly a book needed for our time. All are welcome.
UMW Envisioning Meeting
UMW will meet Monday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at the church to focus on plans for next year. Your ideas and dreams are needed! Please join us. Meeting will be no longer than 2 hours and this will take the place of an August meeting. If you can't make it, do voice your concerns, hopes, and ideas to Josie Gobel or Emily Ford.
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice
Please join Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice for our annual celebration on May 23, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Lussier Education Community Center. The theme is Welcoming the Stranger: Immigrant Justice and the Faith Community. FUMC is a proud member of Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice. If you wish to attend, please RSVP here.
STARS Training
FUMC is partnering with the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for another year of STARS (Summer Teaching to Advance Reading Success). This program helps provide our community's youngest scholars with the head start needed to succeed in school. Volunteer opportunities range from one to four hours for anywhere from 1-6 weeks during the summer. STARS is a great opportunity to continue our congregation's work around racial equity and education. Join us at FUMC on Sunday, June 3, after the second service for a training.

ASP Trip
First UMC youth are headed to Appalachia Service Project this summer from July 14-July 22 to repair homes and serve God. We still have 6 spots available and are looking for more youth to join us. Cost is $400 with fundraisers are available. Please contact Breanna to sign up or get more info.
