Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

Pursuing our purpose in life requires tenacity. It takes great perseverance to reach our larger goals in life. Getting a degree takes determination. If you are going back to school after having been away for a while, it takes resolve to accomplish that goal. It’s often true in other areas of our lives too.

Parents and grandparents require tenacity when raising children and guiding grandchildren. You may need to help them overcome health or emotional issues or deal with addiction problems. It can take years of work.

As we come to Palm Sunday and Holy Week, we reflect on the tenacity of Jesus in pursuing God’s will so faithfully, not giving up even as he faced the suffering before him. We have also talked these past weeks about the Apostle Paul and his determination in serving Christ as an early missionary. As conflicts continued to erupt in response to his message of faith, threats were made against Paul’s life. He knew..

Donate NOW to Youth Auction and BUY Tickets for the Dinner
On March 25, the youth will hold their Youth Mission Dinner and Auction, a yearly fundraising event, and they need your help to make it a success. Youth will be selling tickets this Sunday and at the door. Enjoy a Texas-inspired menu a la George Heredia and his sous chefs, and shop the silent auction. Live auction items will be revealed Sunday. This is the youth's biggest fundraiser of the year. Thank you for supporting youth missions and ministry.

The 2018 Senior High Mission Trip to Houston, TX, July 22-27, 2018 , will assist with hurricane relief, which has been ongoing after Hurricane Harvey smashed into the coast of Texas in August 2017. Squad 57 also has plans to do mission work this summer, and the youth choir will go on tour in May. (NOTE: Deposits for the youth choir tour are due Sunday!)

Children are invited to meet their teachers on the patio at 9:15 am outside the sanctuary to receive palm branches and assemble to participate in the annual Palm Procession through the sanctuary.

The Prayers of Intercession are included in the Looking Ahead. Unless otherwise requested, prayer requests are e-mailed to the 200+ Prayer Team members and shared with pastors and staff. Submit a prayer request using our online request form or call the church office at 602.840.8360.

Worship Bulletins are available for the 8 am and 9:30 am worship services on Sunday.

Invite a friend or neighbor to Holy Week and Easter Services
If you didn't pick up an Easter postcard last week, ask one of the ushers for one. Use the card as an invitation for a neighbor or friend. We'll have 4 services on Easter Sunday as well as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Holy Week services. If you have neighbors with children, invite them to the Easter Carnival on Saturday, March 31 . Bring God's love into action by igniting faith, transforming lives and creating community.
Easter Carnival Volunteers Needed
Rev. Brenda Smith and Jenn Coughlin, chair of the Children's Ministry Team, has put out a call for volunteers to help at the Easter Carnival on Saturday, March 31, 9:30-11 am. If you can assist with one of the game or craft tables, please email Jenn Coughlin ASAP! Youth can help too. Shifts are just a half hour, but we'd love your help all morning if you're available and willing. The Paradise Perk will be open and Serendipities will too. The Boy Scouts will be helping outdoors. Thanks for making this a great community event! Share it on Facebook, and change your profile pic to include our special "Celebrate Easter at PVUMC" frame letting people know where you'll be celebrating Easter!

The Good Life at PVUMC
This Sunday, we'll share good news about our pledge campaign and encourage you to pledge now if you haven't already. The Good Life at PVUMC includes the people and ministries we love. By pledging our support now, we can build our nest (the budget) and provide for the future. We've shared our hopes and dreams. Now, it's time to make them a reality. Pledge online
