Suggested Comment 1
Section 2.6, paragraph 4 ...reimbursement for complementary and integrative health approaches
.
Reimbursement policies are in place as established in Section 2706,
Nondiscrimination in Healthcare,
of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but the policies have not been implemented. We respectfully ask that the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Treasury (collectively, the Departments) begin to work together, as stated in the Affordable Care Act Implementation FAQs, to help group health plans and health insurance issuers to come into compliance with the nondiscrimination provision and to work with families and individuals to help them understand the law and benefit from it as intended.
Suggested Comment 2
Section 2.6, paragraph 4 ...additional research, greater patient and clinician education, and expanded coverage of complementary and integrative health approaches
are essential for a comprehensive solution to reduce the reliance on opioids.
The Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC) (
http://www.homeopathicdirectory.com
) offers to be a resource to, to act in an advisory capacity to, and to serve on information gathering panels for the
Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Treasury (collectively, the Departments)
, by providing accurate information on licensed and nationally certified homeopaths, acting within their scope of practice, and how their services can be implemented.
The Council for Homeopathic Certification offers educational guidance for clinician referral and a directory of certified homeopaths for both consumer and practitioner use. The national CHC certification is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). ICE represents the gold standard developed in concert with the Federal Government to ensure patient safety.
We respectfully recommend that the Departments consider expanding coverage of complementary and integrative approaches, as stated in Section 2.6, that are essential components of a comprehensive solution to reliance on opioids. The Council for Homeopathic Certification offers to be an educational resource for clarification of the profession of homeopathic medicine and its efficacy and safety in pain management.
