Dayton Applies Pressure on Legislature to Pass MNCare Buy-In
On May 8, Gov. Mark Dayton urged legislative leaders to pass the MinnesotaCare buy-in, which he says would give an estimated 100,000 Minnesotans access to affordable coverage. Read more here.  
MMA Supports Distracted Driving Legislation
The MMA has lent its support to a bipartisan proposal that makes it illegal to operate a motor vehicle while on a cell phone. On May 8, the association agreed to sign on to a letter from Gov. Mark Dayton to legislative leaders that supports HF 1180 and SF 837. Read more here.
Two More Minnesota Cities Passes T21 Ordinances
The cities of Shoreview and Falcon Heights became the sixth and seventh Minnesota municipalities, respectively, to pass a T21 ordinance. Read more here

MDH Seeking Info on Hospital-Treated Drug Overdose Deaths
The health department is requesting that all hospitals, clinics, emergency departments, urgent care centers, and convenience clinics in the state report all hospital-treated drug overdose fatalities. Read more here

Med Students, Residents Encouraged to Submit Posters for Annual Conference
Medical students and residents are encouraged to submit their work by June 15 for the 2018 Annual Conference poster symposium taking place Sept. 22 at the St. Paul RiverCentre. The winning submission will receive up to $500. Read more here.
Volunteers Needed for Work on Physician Satisfaction
The MMA is looking for physicians to help guide development of programming in support of physician wellbeing/physician satisfaction. The MMA began work on this issue in 2010 and is looking to understand current work underway across the state and identify potential gaps.
