Live Stream This Sunday's
Worship Service at 10:30 am
Jesus' parable about two sons who don't do what they say reveals surprises in the reign of God. In the reading from Ezekiel the people claim the ways of the Lord are unfair, while God offers repentance and new life. Paul urges us to look to Christ as a model of humility, putting the interests of others above our own. Nourished by the broken bread and shared cup, we offer our lives for the sake of our needy world.

Isabel's Quilters
Forty quilts will be displayed Sunday for “Blessing of the Quilts”. The quilts for Lutheran World Relief reflect the work of many hands, with work from fall 2019 to late September 2020. Much of the time since March, Isabel’s quilters worked individually at home due to COVID 19 stay at home restrictions. Recently, a small group completed several more quilts. With an earlier in-gathering date—October 2-- to collect quilts for shipping, we could not complete as many quilts as last year, although we have many quilt tops ready to form quilts, to continue this ministry.
Isabel’s Quilters include Brenda Wheeler, Barb Murphy, Sylvia Wallace, Norma Pitts, Norma Foell, and Jan Borkowski. Dee Swinehart and Susan Hall also helped create quilts. The group welcomes people to cut fabric squares, donate good used bed sheets, provide fabric for the quilt tops, or donate dollars for supplies such as thread or fiber-fill, and for shipping costs of completed quilts.
Gods' Work. Our Hands
Today is the last day for donations of items for the School Supplies and the Blessing Bags.

At that time, the school supplies will be distributed to several Columbus Public Schools by teachers in our congregation and the Blessing Bags will be filled. We will notify you when the Bags are available for pick up in a similar outside bin.

We thank you for your continued generosity!

Calling All Kids!
Ages 2 1/2 up to 3rd Grade

Advent Angels will start practices on Thursday October 8 at 6:30 p.m. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall (spread out) to sing. We will be providing special music for the 10:30 a.m. service on October 18.
Attention all creatures great and small! Every day we receive a special kind of unconditional love from our pets. Just as we receive blessings for ourselves, don’t our other family members deserve them, too? Sunday, October 4th at 4:00 PM we will observe a beloved Advent Church tradition, the annual BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS.

We will join together (weather permitting) with our faithful companions for a lively outdoor service of blessing and thanksgiving. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Because there continues to be a need for cat and dog food assistance at the local LSS food pantries, those attending the service are asked to bring a small bag (please no large bags!) or can of cat or dog food. Members of the congregation are encouraged to make a similar donation. Donations can be brought to the church on Sunday mornings or, beginning September 28th, dropped off in the designated bin outside the east entry to the church.

Please join us for this spirited celebration of all God’s beautiful creation!!

NOTE:  If the weather on October 4th seems "iffy," check our website (adventelc.org) before you come in case the service has been postponed.
6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
High School and Confirmation groups are back in full swing weekly meeting.

We are going to be outside as weather permits, socially distanced, masks when inside and/or not distanced will be enforced. Please bring lawn chairs each week.

Confirmation students, please bring or send in your $30 materials fee with you.
