"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."
--1 Timothy 4:12, ILS theme verse for the 2017 2018 school year

Congratulations to All Confirmands

Confirmation is an important rite of passage in an individual’s discipleship journey--a ceremony that moves one into adult status in the faith community. The Apostle Paul declares that we all begin our faith journey as infants, feeding on the simple promises of God like spiritual milk. Confirmation is the process through which the Church takes children in the faith (regardless of biological age) and begins to teach them the deeper truths and more complicated understandings that God offers us in His Word. Like an infant learning to eat solid food, this is a process that begins to shape a person’s spiritual development in profound ways.
As we celebrate the end of spiritual childhood in the lives of all of Immanuel's young men and women, whether confirmed at ILC this weekend or at their home churches, it is truly a celebration for all of us. From Immanuel's perspective, we fulfill the Great Commission. Christ commanded us to baptize and teach all nations. In the lives of these young adults, this command has been fulfilled. While their faith journey has just begun, we celebrate the solid foundation upon which they can love and serve God for the rest of their lives.
