Dear T-bird Parents & Families,

Spring Break is almost here. There will be no classes, but campus will be open March 12- March 15. Our Wellness Center is hosting a Safe Spring Break event for students today from 9am- 2pm in the Student Center Living Room. Students will be able to ask questions and get answers for having fun and staying safe over the break.

Many students will be taking part in spring break adventures planned through campus departments. Registration is full for the following spring break trips, but students can start planning now for next year or make plans to try a new experience, outdoor trip, or mini-break offered on campus throughout the semester.

The Outdoor Center offers spring break trips to Las Vegas for rock climbing and California for camping. They also offer over 20 free weekend trips throughout the semester for students, and discounted outdoor gear rentals. If your student would like more information, stop by the Outdoor Center located in the Student Center, or visit their website here .

The Community Engagement Center offers alternative spring breaks, where students travel locally and internationally to engage in active service and learn about social issues. Over spring break our students will travel to Nicaragua, Florida, Catalina Island, and Peru. Students can also check out the weekend mini-breaks taking place throughout the school year, and participate in ongoing service opportunities in our community. Find more information here .

The Office of Learning Abroad offers a subsidized cultural immersion experience in London over spring break. The average cost is $750, with airfare and housing included. Over 400 students will study abroad through SUU this year. Students can study abroad for a semester while paying tuition to only SUU and utilize any scholarships or financial aid they normally receive. They are accepting applications now for fall Study Abroad experiences. Find more information here .

I have heard from a number of families who will be traveling to Southern Utah to enjoy the break with their students.  If you are interested in local hotel discounts, please visit our SUU Parent and Family Services website . If you have any questions while you are on campus, please give me a call, or stop by my office and say hi. My office is 201 D in the Sharwan Smith Student Center.

For students who are using the break to get ahead in their studies, the library will be open from 8am- 5pm, Monday- Thursday.
