Principal Notes                                               January 24, 2019

Dear Families,

All Catholic Schools around the country will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week, starting January 27 th .  This is a time where we stop and realize what a wonderful blessing it is to be able to speak and live out our faith on a daily basis with our children. We can truly be disciples of Jesus living out the Gospel and witnessing to those around us.

This year's theme is "Catholic Schools Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed . We will begin with our annual Chili Chomp and Book Fair tomorrow night.  Our Open House will be on Sunday from 8:00-12:30 p.m. Please plan on stopping by to visit your child's classroom and our Jr. High Science Fair.  The Boy Scouts will be serving a pancake breakfast in the cafeteria from 8:00-11:00. Come join us! We will be giving tours to prospective families.  Please encourage any family who is interested in coming to St. Mary's to attend. You are our best marketing tool - help us spread the word! Click here to see all the great things that are happening next week.

There is so much excitement around our upcoming musical, "Beauty and the Beast Jr."  So much extra time goes into planning and rehearsing -- it literally takes months. Thank you to Mrs. Kesler, Ms. Pospyhalla, Ms. Gleason and Mr. Newman for all your time working with the students.  We can't wait!

February 14
th is our 2 nd parent/teacher conference of the school year. School is dismissed at 11:00. Conferences are from 2:00-6:00 that evening. Sign-up genius will be coming out on a separate email. A conference can be requested by you or the classroom teacher.

See the Parent Letter in this Virtual Backpack for more information, or contact Miss Benson in the library.

Open House
Please consider helping at our upcoming SMV Open House on Sunday, January 27th.  We are in need of hospitality help and tour guides.  It is a very enjoyable morning as you are able to socialize with existing families, meet new families, and share your SMV spirit!  Thank you in advance!

Positively
 SMV

This past weekend, on the feast of St. Sebastian, we had our 1st annual athlete's mass.  Many of the SMV athletes joined us and helped with the different parts of the mass.  Thank you to all students who helped with the orders of worship and during the presentation of the gifts.  We would like to give a special shout out and thank you to Nina Anglim, Ellie Clemence and Braden Zils for their help with the readings and petitions!  At the end of mass, the athletes in attendance received a special blessing from Fr. John.
What a great way to share our SMV students and SMV spirit with our parish community!

And with that you will find a few things that are Positively SMV!

Altar Linen Volunteers Needed
Helping to maintain the altar linens is a silent, generous way to serve God and the parish community. Volunteers rotate each month or every 2 - 3 months in laundering and ironing the small linens used during the Masses. During your designated month, linens are taken home once a week and then returned to the sacristy the following week. Instructions and support from an experienced launderer will be provided. If you are interested in this very important ministry, please contact Jenny Dascoli at 262-782-4485 or email  jdascoli@stmaryeg.org.
