“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Things won’t be easy and simple this side of heaven. So, how can we lift our chins and heads into tomorrow without succumbing to discouragement? We remember that God is good. We believe that He sent His Son to be our Savior. We trust His faithfulness. We remember our baptism. We ask for His presence and peace during each moment. We pray for wisdom and believe that the God who holds the universe in His hands is working every single trial and triumph together for our good and for His glory. This verse in James tells us that when we lack wisdom we should simply ask God for it! Be encouraged that the Lord will give you wisdom generously without finding fault!

Lord Jesus, please give me wisdom. So many troubles are weighing me down. Help me give You all my burdens and increase my faith and trust in You. In Your name. Amen.

Educators of the Year and Jubilarians News
FAQ #1: Where are the nomination forms for Educator of the Year and Administrator of the Year?
Response: Since we are having an All Workers Conference this November, including pastors, DCE’s, DPM’s, etc., we have decided to suspend this process for one year. In the Spring of 2021, we will again open nominations for next year, to resume the award at LEC 2021!

FAQ #2: Where are the jubilarian forms for this year?
Response: We have also decided to suspend honoring our jubilarians for this All Workers Conference. Thus, we will honor those who have served 25-26, 30-31, 35-36, 40-41, 45-46, and 50+ at the 2021 LEC! SO…hold on for one more year!
Rigor and Relevance Framework -
Five Spots Left!
We only have five spots left in the Rigor and Relevance Framework training program! Here is a link to the Google Form with more information. Classes start October 12th, so don’t wait to register! All classes this year will be online and have been broken down into shorter segments of time so schools won’t need to find full day subs for participants. We also have limited scholarship money so if the cost is a problem, please reach out about a scholarship. We highly recommend this training to all of our schools! Don’t wait – secure one of those last spots for your school now!
Grant Opportunities
KaBOOM! Build It Grants: A Build it with KaBOOM! grant provides the facilitation and support of an experienced Project Manager as community members embark on a 5–12-week planning process. After selection, all partners will join together for a community Design Day; inviting play experts (the kids, of course) to design their dream play space. Your hard work and required weekly planning will result in a six-hour community day, where you will transform your community space to include a permanent play structure. More Information

Whole Foods Foundation Community Giving Program: Our team members are part of the local community and they are passionate about supporting the local causes that are important to our shoppers and neighbors. First off, it’s a given that each store donates food to area food banks and shelters. We have food; they know how to get it to people who need it. Done. Then several times a year, our stores hold community-giving days (otherwise known as “5% Days”) where five percent of that day’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit or educational organization. The groups that benefit from these 5% Days are as varied as the communities themselves. Last but not least, team members are constantly volunteering their time and expertise to an assortment of local non-profits. More Information
Prayer Requests
Our Gracious Heavenly Father,
We cry out to you for mercy during these challenging days. Lord, please heal our land, bring peace to our neighborhoods and cities, and tear down the walls of hate and injustice that divide us. Raise up your church to be a life-giving force and ambassadors of reconciliation. Empower us for action that we may model for our world the oneness in Christ, who alone is the hope of the world. Give wisdom to our civil authorities and faith leaders to make decisions and lead in directions that will result in repentance, healing, forgiveness, new directions, and peace. Father in heaven, we pray for our police officers and fire fighters. We ask for your protection, provision and encouragement for our first responders who serve our communities faithfully and sacrificially, facing risks every day on our behalf in order to preserve the peace, our lives and property. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

This week we pray for:
  • the family, friends, and students of Aaron Partch. Aaron, one of the Preschool Directors at Concordia Lutheran Church and School in Chula Vista, CA, died last week. We mourn with Aaron's family, co-workers, and students during this very difficult time, yet we rejoice that Aaron is now with Jesus.
  • a preschool student at Zion Lutheran Early Childhood Education Center, Anaheim, CA. Jade Guiterrez-Perez was just diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer occurring in the lymph nodes. Please pray for his mom, Rufina, and his twin brother, Red.

Schools we are praying for the week of September 27:
Zion Lutheran Preschool, Fallbrook, CA
Prince of Peace Lutheran Preschool, Hemet, CA
St. John’s Lutheran School and Preschool, Orange, CA

Each week, prayers of thanksgiving and prayers for teachers, administrators, support staff, pastors, students, and families of the Lutheran schools, early childhood centers, and churches of the Pacific Southwest District are listed. To include names on the list, please send information to [email protected] by noon on Tuesday of each week.
