EMWD has again been recognized for its industry-leading safety efforts.

In August, EMWD was certified for the seventh time by Cal-OSHA as a Voluntary Protection Plan/STAR organization. EMWD is the only public agency in California to earn this status, which it has held continuously since 1999.

The STAR program recognizes public and private organizations that go beyond Cal/OSHA standards for workplace safety and successfully implement best-practices designed to protect the health and safety of employees, contractors and the public.

September is National Emergency Preparedness Month, and EMWD wants to educate our customers on how to do their part in the event of an emergency.

In the event of a major emergency such as an earthquake, EMWD will work quickly to restore service to our communities. We also encourage customers to have an emergency supply of water stored at their homes. An emergency supply should include one gallon per person, per day, with enough to last at least three days.

To learn how to safely store tap water to be prepared, please check out our website at www.emwd.org. You may also visit www.ready.gov for more information.
EMWD is proud of its investments in groundwater desalination, and we want to help you learn more about that process.

EMWD has created a new virtual tour of our desalination complex that not only provides a behind-the-scene look at our infrastructure, but helps share the process of how we take salty groundwater and make it drinkable to serve tens of thousands of households in our communities.

EMWD is currently building a third desalination facility -- the Perris II Desalter -- which will be completed in early 2021.

As California faces its worst-ever fire season, EMWD is a proud partner in providing a reliable water supply for public safety purposes.

EMWD owns and maintains approximately 23,000 fire hydrants throughout its 555 square mile service area. These hydrants are critical pieces of infrastructure that help our local fire service agencies protect lives and properties at homes, businesses and in our communities.

EMWD is also prepared to respond to a Public Safety Power Shutoff through the use of backup generators at critical facilities, helping ensure a reliable flow of water when it is needed most. Please visit our website to learn more.
