Emily Brown, CFX's Manager of Public Affairs, connected with representatives from organizations across all sectors of business, government and social services in February.

Some of the groups she spoke to included the Association of Retired Federal Employees, West Orange Woman's Club, East Orange Chamber of Commerce, and Early Learning Coalition of Orange County. 

The groups were eager to learn how transportation impacts their communities and the comprehensive process CFX follows to gather public input when determining the feasibility of potential new road projects.

Unexpected stops frequently occur in work zones. Rear-end collisions account for most common work zone accidents.  Follow other vehicles at a safe distance and obey the posted speed limit. 

CFX Listens to Central Florida Residents
 

Public meetings held in February on CFX's four Concept, Feasibility & Mobility Studies, including this Feb. 13 workshop at St. Cloud High School, drew about 1,200 attendees. More  
than 350 comments were submitted at the meetings. 

CFX hosted three public meetings in February as part of an ongoing listening campaign to hear residents' concerns and suggestions about the Concept, Feasibility & Mobility Studies.
 
Held on Feb. 13, 15 and 21, the meetings provided hundreds of local residents with the opportunity to view the latest corridor alignment alternatives, get their questions answered and voice their opinions. 

CFX has held six public engagement sessions on the Concept Studies since September 2017. Findings from the meetings will be compiled in each of the Concept, Feasibility & Mobility Studies Final Report. 
 
At the March 8th meeting, CFX's Board will be presented with the findings from all four studies and will vote on which of the studies to carry through to the next phase of project development.

During the  Project Development & Environmental Study ( PD&E) phase, a more detailed analysis will be conducted on the current corridor alternatives.  At the conclusion of a PD&E Study, a single recommended alternative will be presented to the Board for approval.

Your Toll Dollars at Work: SR 429 Ramp Improvements at CR 535
 

Northbound ramp to SR 429 from CR 535

Access to northbound State Road 429 from County Road 535 (Winter Garden Vineland Road) will get easier with upcoming ramp improvements.

Starting in March, widening work on the northbound entrance ramp to SR 429 from CR 535 will add an additional E-PASS lane at the ramp toll plaza.

This project also will add an additional northbound SR 429 travel lane from CR 535 to Stoneybrook Parkway. Work is expected to be completed this fall.

Two Ribbon Cuttings & a 5K Race

March is a big month for CFX. The agency will celebrate two project openings: the new State Road 528 / Innovation Way / Sunbridge Parkway Interchange, and CFX's Section 2 of the Wekiva Parkway.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on March 9 , a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opens the SR 528 / Innovation Way / Sunbridge Parkway Interchange.

On March 31, a 5K run/walk and 1-mile family fun run will kick off the celebration marking the much-anticipated opening of Section 2 of the Wekiva Parkway.


All participants of the Wekiva Parkway 5K will receive this commemorative medal.

Currently, more than 200 people have registered to run or walk on the new parkway section. The route takes participants over a scenic bridge. The race begins at 7 a.m. Join us by clicking  here to sign up. G rand opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m.  

All race proceeds will be donated to the Florida Wildlife Corridor. 

In The Community:  UCF Fan Fest & Mount Dora Arts Festival 

Knights fans visit the KnightPass tent at Fan Fest on Feb. 3.

The KnightPass team was at UCF's annual Fan Fest on Feb. 3  in front of  CFE Arena , telling fans how they can drive with UCF Pride using KnightPass ,  a UCF-branded E-PASS. It's available at the  UCF Bookstore  and online at GetKnightPass.com .

If you're a University of Florida fan, check out GatorPass at the UF Bookstore and the Gator Sportshop at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. For Florida State fans, there's NolePass, which is available at the FSU Bookstore and the Seminole Sportshop at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Each sticker costs $18.50, plus tax. GatorPass, NolePass and KnightPass also are available online at CollegeEpass.com.


Approximately  1,000 people stopped by the Wekiva Parkway  booth, sponsored by CFX, at the  Mount Dora Arts Festival  Feb. 3-4.  Locals were excited to hear about the future opening of Section 2 while several seasonal visitors were thrilled they would soon be able to use EZ-Pass on CFX toll roads.  Others were educated on the benefits of using E-PASS.

E-PASS Service Center Relocating 

CFX is consolidating E-PASS centers. As of Friday, May 25, the E-PASS center at 8919 W. Colonial Dr. in Ocoee will be relocated to 762 S. Goldenrod Road in Orlando.
