Leadership Candidates and their Election Statements

The current elected Executive Committee is willing to stand for
re-election to continue our commitment to serve and build on the organization's accomplishments in recent years.

The following are some goals and objective we wish to address in the upcoming year:

* Engage and prepare other members to be able to provide continuity
  for the next administrative term

* Increase membership participation in association activities and
  events

* Continue to refine website to better serve and benefit the
  membership

* Plan and execute programs that expand member demographics

* Increase number of Board Members and Advisory Council
  Members

* Increase levels of corporate sponsorship

For the organization to prosper now, through the next year and beyond, it is essential to have expanded membership participation in managing the activities. This is especially important to ensure informed continuity beyond the next term for following administrations.

It is important to remember that PAA bylaws prohibit officers from serving more than two years. Therefore,
it is critical to the organization that others begin to step up and be positioned for leadership going forward.

Our willingness to stand for re-election is based on acknowledgement of, and a commitment to, the following support requested requirements of the membership.

Linda McCarley - Nominee for Vice President
In the past two years, I have served on the Board of Directors of the Plano Art Association and as its vice president for the past year. I bring leadership skills from my many years of experience of serving other organizations on the Boards of Directors. In my professional life as an art psychotherapist, I have always held a deep regard for the value of art to speak, when words alone will not suffice, and I have seen the power of art to nourish health and well being in myself and others.

Linda's Requests:
During her year as Vice President,

The Hospitality Team will also help maintain the momentum that has been created during 2017-18.

Karla Keese - Nominee for Secretary
Karla recently joined the PAA Board of Directors after being active in the organization over the last year. She is a remarkable artist and has been fascinated with glass since growing up in the small rural South Plains Texas towns of Brownfield and Lamesa. From the stained glass windows in her church to the cathedrals of Europe, she was amazed at what could be done with the ages-old process of cutting, coloring and painting on this strange medium.
The final move to Plano, Texas in 2004 gave Karla the chance to learn a different way to work and use glass. She bought a kiln and discovered the joy of working in kiln-formed (warm) glass. This gives her a chance to use texture as well as color and line in her art. It enables her to use dimension and explore new areas. Karla has exhibited her work in recent PAA exhibitions and has received excellent reviews.
Karla sees the world with humor and hope and her pieces often express that worldview.   [email protected]
