Trying to sell houses in last year's Real Estate Market was like trying to drive with the brakes on.
2017 was the year of the rise and fall of prices, but in 2018 it was much worse.
According to TREB statistics, there were 92,394 sales in 2017 and only 77,426 sales in 2018 in the GTA.
Almost 15,000 less sales. But in reality, there are 2 transactions to each sale, the buying and a selling end. Therefore the GTA had 30,000 less deals than the year before. That's astonishing! It's as if the high prices of spring 2017 prices did not exist. Now we are back to 2016 prices but the number of buyers are just not there.
We've weathered many changes. In April 1974, the government imposed the Land Speculation Tax...and everything stopped.
