A Message From Our President
Welcome to May! April was a whirlwind of activities for Autism Acceptance Month - thank you so much to everyone who came out and supported us! We are truly grateful for the amazing community here in San Diego, and beyond.
As we head into May, we have some exciting new activities coming up. Join us at our first ever
Sensory Friendly Family Night at PlayWerx in Carlsbad, and at the first
Sensory Playtime at the La Mesa Library. Collaborating with our community partners to offer new events is a priority for us, and we truly appreciate the many local businesses that make an effort to be inclusive and accepting to our families.
You will also want to be sure to save the date for our upcoming June events. Our first
Family Beach Day of the Year will be on Saturday, June 2nd, at beautiful
Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Then join us at the
Genius Weekend from Mainly Mozart on June 8th-10th. This series of events celebrates the talents of people on the spectrum and includes a
Sensory Friendly Concert with Julia from Sesame Street at the Balboa Theatre, as well as lectures and presentations, food and drinks, additional musical performances, and much more. Be sure to go to the link below for more information, and we hope to see you there!

OVERWHELMED WITH GRATITUDE!

Thank you to all who joined us on Saturday, April 29, 2018 at our 16th annual Splash for Cash!!
We had so many amazing guests, from biking dogs and mermaids to a whole kitchen full of San Diego Firefighters. We achieved so much thanks to our fundraisers, silent action donors, and sponsors! Not to mention all the fun had by all who splashed around the AquaPros Swim School heated pool!
And of course a special shout-out to The Alexander and Eva Nemeth Foundation for being our top fundraising team! You all showed your style, commitment, and excellent beach ball skills in the pool and we couldn't be more grateful. We are lucky to have such amazing supporters!!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!
The Autism Society San Diego is proud to collaborate with the Mainly Mozart Festival this year during their Genius Weekend celebration June 8-June 10, 2018. There will be multiple activities that celebrate the genius in the spirit of Mozart through presentations, musical performances, and intimate social gatherings with a specific focus on Autism.

Join us for the first ever Sensory Friendly Family Night at PlayWerx with Autism Society San Diego! PlayWerx Carlsbad will be closed to the general public for this special night for autism families on May 10th. This event is open to families and participants of ALL ages. Play in the climbing structure, enjoy meeting other families, and enjoy an evening of relaxing family fun.

Beach Days are Back Again!
Join us for first Family Beach Day of 2018 on
Saturday, June 2nd
!
We will host one beach Day a month during June, July, and August. For June, we will meet at beautiful Moonlight Beach in Encinitas
, which has great facilities including full bathrooms, a large playground, and food and drinks for sale!
Join for a day of family fun in a supportive, non-judgmental
atmosphere.

Bring the entire family to enjoy a swim in an indoor heated pool with free pizza and drinks. Lifeguards are provided. For safety purposes, no flotation devices or "floaties" are permitted.
*Please remember there is NO childcare provided at this event. For safety reasons, ATTENDEES are expected to supervise their children at ALL times. Additionally: If your child cannot swim independently enough to pass the swim test, regardless of whether they will be in the deep or shallow end, you must be in the water with them at all times.

Join other families affected by autism at a Family Fun Gymnastics Night in North County. The YMCA will provide the gym equipment. Together we will be the fun AND PIZZA! Bring the entire family for an enjoyable relaxing night of family recreation.
Donations of (minimum) $5 per family GREATLY APPRECIATED!

on the first Sunday of each month 2 hours before opening to the public. This event will feature "reduced lighting and noise, trained and caring staff, and food and games".
