IN THIS ISSUE

FROM THE PASTOR...
Church
For Christians, the season of Lent brings opportunity for reflection and positive change. Many of us will use this season as a chance to give something up. It might be something we enjoy eating but that may not be good for us. Or it might be something we enjoy doing but we want to make a significant sacrifice to honor the sacrifice which Jesus Christ made on our behalf. We commit ourselves before God to change. Often what we give up is something that is not good for us such as smoking, overeating, or watching too much TV.  To read more,  click here

     Little Lights Preschool

The month of February brings thoughts of Valentine's Day and love.  Our preschoolers will have a party, exchange valentines, and learn about God's love. Lessons about Zacchaeus will provide opportunities for them to give and receive love and kindness.
Zacchaeus was a dishonest tax collector who collected more taxes than were required and pocketed the surplus.  The people of his town hated him.  They couldn't believe it when Jesus said that he wanted to come to his house for dinner!  But Jesus' unconditional love softened Zacchaeus' heart and changed his life.  With this new feeling of love in his heart, Zacchaeus gave back more than 1/2 of his money to the people.
Preschoolers learn by example.  We often see them treat others as they are treated.  It's our responsibility to give children a loving, accepting example just as Jesus did.  Show them kindness and love and they will treat others with this same kindness and love.
We will be working on the alphabet.  We will do activities on the letters C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J.

CHILDREN/YOUTH NEWS

The Children/Youth group includes all things related to children and youth.  Children's Church, Sunday School for preschoolers thru 12th grade, Nursery, Vacation Bible School, and Confirmation are all a part of this group.  Volunteers (like YOU) make all of these available to our children.  Without our volunteers we would not be able to offer these to our children/youth.
We like to have our volunteers be able to be on a rotation so that each person is only teaching one Sunday a month.  We have a few spots where we still need volunteers.  All volunteers must be screened and have a background check.

If you are interested in knowing more about this please contact Kathy Vorm.  You can talk to her at church of call her at 574-896-3205.
